Star Trek Movie Tie-in
Excellent book and excellent voice over work by Zachary Quinto. The book cleared up a couple of questions I had about the early years of the two main characters, Spock and Kirk. Mr. Quinto's ability to give a distinct voice to each character made listening to the book an absolute joy. I especially enjoyed his treatment of the female characters. He was able to capture the essence of the female voice perfectly. I also particularly enjoyed the many different accents he used.
I highly recommend this book for all Star Trek fans and for anyone who is a fan of the spoken word.
Great Movie Companion
The "Star Trek Movie Tie-In" is a great companion to the recent "Star Trek" feature film. It gives more scene detail, and answers questions that might not have been answered in the movie because of time. I think anyone who liked the movie will really enjoy this book.
Good Purchase
This is a good book. I have not had time to read much of it, but what I've read of it is good. I highly enjoyed the movie and am a fan of Alan Dean Foster, so I was quite excited when I heard that he was going to be writing this novelization. The only problem I have with this purchase is that I was not told about the black marker at the top of the book. Other than that, I have no complaints.
It finishes the movie!
I thought this was excellent!I bought it after seeing the movie and was skeptical about seeing the movie as I figured it would be an imitation of the series especially Spock. There's no one that portrays Spock like Leonard Nimoy.I'm one of those long time trekkies that started looking at ST when it first came on TV so I'm tough to please but seeing Zachary Quinto as Spock and listening to him read this version of the movie was the finishing touch.I'll admit there were moments when I wondered about loose ends like seeing the kid hitchhiking down the road, wondering who he was, etc. but the audiobook ties it all together. If you don't have the audiobook, use your imagination but I recommend getting the audiobook.Still, the highlight is listening to the reader who is brilliant in his inflection, tone, dialect, resonance, and accents. You will love this if you love ST!

"Are you willing to settle for an ordinary life? Or do you think you were meant for something better? Something special?" One grew up in the cornfields of Iowa, fighting for his independence, for a way out of a life that promised only indifference, aimlessness and obscurity. "You will forever be a child of two worlds, capable of choosing your own destiny. The only question you face is, which path will you chose?" The other grew up on the jagged cliffs of the harsh Vulcan desert, fighting for acceptance, for a way to reconcile the logic he was taught with the emotions he felt. In the far reaches of the galaxy, a machine of war bursts into existence in a place and time it was never meant to be. On a mission of retribution for the destruction of his planet, its half-mad captain seeks the death of every intelligent being, and the annihilation of every civilized world. Kirk and Spock, two completely different and unyielding personalities must find a way to lead the only crew, aboard the only ship, that can stop him. "The wait is over."
