Harper's Magazine 50 reviews
Harper's Magazine
Still, It's a Good Magazine Although at times the advertising can be questionable (the recent issue includes an ad placed by Chevron), the content is well worth the low price of a subscription. There are few magazines left that include material of such depth, and the broad scope of its content is both suitable and satisfying.
One important benefit Harper's provides to its subscribers is access to the full content of all ...

Us Weekly (1-year) 56 reviews

Shallow and cheesy, just like hollywood. My wife loves this magazine. Its chocked full of candid celebrity shots, and stars doing regular everyday things. Stars complain about the paparazzi, but really, they have no right to whine. After all, they get paid millions to show off their faces, they have given up their right to privacy.
US magazine's theme is that stars are just like "US". They go to eat, lay out on the beach, and get ...

An irreverent delight I think of this magazine as quintessential bathroom reading. It's also great to keep with you when you have a few moments to spare. There are always interesting and fun articles and facts. There is something for everyone in this quirky great read.

O, The Oprah Magazine (1-year) 52 reviews
Hearst Magazines
This One Is Worth Keeping. The magazine like Oprah's show covers topics about the real world that infuences our daily lives. It is also geared to middle aged women like myself. You won't find Madison Avenue's obsession with youth, beauty, & nearly nude models spread all over the pages. There are plenty of fascinating articles throughout. Such as: "Is Fear Limiting Your Life?" "Yes I Can Diet," "Sex In The Middle Ages," ...

Decent read RS seems to offer more advertising than good articles. It's been 15 years since I last subscribed- and I stopped at that time for the same reason I want to possibly stop now: MORE ads and not enough articles.
Esquire also has a ton of ads but there are so many well written articles that they more than makeup for the ads. RS can't say that.

Not just for New Yorkers This magazine has been cluttering up my living spaces for many years. One doesn't just toss these away after a quick read-there is always something to return to, whether a great cartoon, superb fiction, a wonderful essay.
I would not be without it.

Esquire (2-year) 24 reviews
Hearst Magazines
The Best Men's Magazine Out There I've been a regular reader of Esquire for just about 15 years. I'll probably be a reader for another 15. No other men's magazine compares: "GQ" might be twice as thick-full of ads, maybe an interesting article once in a while. "Men's Vogue" just doesn't have any personality that I can determine, where "Esquire" has a very definitive voice, full of character. "Details" is a whole lot of ...

eye candy or am i 'aging' myself w/that expression...either way, that's exactly what this magazine is for me...that's what most of magazines of this type are about...what it looks like. sure, i'm a 'lifer' to consumer reports mag; but, when i want to give my eyes not just a rest, but a treat, this does the deed! and for a few bux a year, it's beats tv by many many miles.

Interview (1-year) 18 reviews
Brant Publications
By far my favorite magazine! I love the interview format, which is stars interviewing other stars. I particularly liked Gladys Knight and Alicia Keyes. How cool! Beware, it's not a slick glossy, but is finished with matte, if you care. The spreads are still gorgeous in sort of a smoke-filled-room kind of way. Aside from getting interviews with big time stars, they seem to spot and interview people who are on their way up and ...

The New Yorker (2-year) 5 reviews
Conde' Nast Publications
Some of the finest long non- fiction pieces Although I often disagree with the 'New Yorker' politically and find the writing of Seymour Hersh offensive I believe that the 'New Yorker' publishes exceptionally fine pieces of non- fiction. I stress the non- fiction because this is what interests me in 'the New Yorker now'.Once it was the fiction of Salinger, Singer, of S.J. Perelman. But in recent years it has been the writing of Malcolm ...

Gets my son to read ! Trying to get my son to read is like pulling teeth. Finding something he will enjoy reading has been difficult. He just turned 12 and as he sees the lastest movies and popular TV shows he can really relate to this magazine. I am glad I ordered it in early November as the first issued arrived this week just in time for Christmas. I can wait to see his face when he pulls it out of his stocking..of ...
