What a wonderfull suprise!!
I have to tell the truth, all I really knew of Badfinger were their radio hits, "Come and Get It", "No Matter What You Want",and "Day After Day". I also knew George, and Paul helped them out on the Apple label. I loved all of those songs way back then, and still do now. I did not follow the band that closely though, never saw them in concert, and did not know their very tragic history. And ...

Pete Ham and the boys create a classic
For a short time Badfinger filled the void left by the breakup of the Beatles. "No Dice" and the following album "Straight Up" are classic pop albums that had the harmony, melodic sense, energy and feeling that were the hallmark of the best of the Beatles music. While the Beatles had Lennon and McCartney Badfinger only had one "great" singer songwriter-Pete Ham, though Tom Evans was an excellent ...

Greatest misses that shoulda been contenders
There are few rags-to-riches-to-rags stories as sad as the Badfinger story. These guys should have had the kind of multi-platinum success in their day that bands such as The Guess Who and Three Dog Night were having; they were certainly as good as the former and WAY better than the latter. But they got caught in the black hole of Apple Records acrimonious demise, taken advantage of by an ...

The sad story of a great band
It's almost worth giving this best of Badfinger five stars on the merits of the band's tragic history. Badfinger was probably the best, most talented band that the hapless Apple Records discovered. Paul McCartney was their guardian angel, handing them "Come and Get It." George Harrison was so awed by the song "Day After Day" that he volunteered his lead guitar skills. The late Harry Nilsson ...

4.5 stars for Badfinger's 1974 eponomously titled LP
Great CD reissue of this great album by the most underrated rock band of all time. Collector's Choice should be applauded for reissuing this. The sound is very strong. Not overlycompressed, yet not muddy either. To my ears, it sounds very, very close to the LP mix, maybe just a pinch cleaner. The CD artwork book is only four pages (including the CD front cover and back cover) and includes two ...

A Good Album!
Magic Christian Music was the first album to bear the Badfinger name, though 6 of the songs on the album are in fact old Iveys recordings that had already been released on the Maybe Tomorrow album. Some of the recordings were done with Paul McCartney, and he obviously helped the band create their characteristic sound. Great tracks like "Midnight Sun", "Crimson Ship" and "Come and Get it" point ...

Just think... No Stan Polley...
Give the band a few more months of rest and this album would have blown away anything in its day. PERIOD. Great album anyways. Puts all of that era's Lennon, Harrison or Starr albums to shame and damn near equals McCartney's.

Beautiful Album
I bought this LP back in 1979 and it quickly became one of my all time favourite albums. I started getting into Badfingers music shortly after Peter Ham died. Though it does miss the sounds of Pete's voice and songs, I'm glad Tommy and Joey got together to make this album.

No Respect
Sadly, Badfinger was a band that never got much respect from the critics. It was generally criticized for being, at best, a Beatles "sound alike" and, at worst, a Beatles imitator. "Badfinger recycles familiar riffs and harmonies in far less striking configurations" says The Rolling Stone Album Guide. There was plenty of other circumstantial evidence. Paul McCartney wrote their first hit, George ...

Wish badfinger was still here
Wish you were here is one of the top 5-6 classic rock albums of the 1970's. And for my money the greatest Badfinger album EVER. It has the feeling of, "hey let's just let it all out, the hell with the record execs." No pre-packaged ideas here. No let's try hard to write a top 40 single here (although there are a few gems). This is Straight Up on amphetamines. No Dice rolling lucky 7's!! This ...

Joey Molland of Badfinger
This CD is somewhat mislabeled. Badfinger was an incredibly talented rock group from the late '60s and '70s that tragically was mismanaged and quite possibly had the worst luck of any group in music history. It's so sad since they had so much ability and produced some awesome music. However, this particular CD is only one member of Badfinger--Joey Molland, the sole survivor of the main ...

Badfinger's Comeback
"Airwaves" proved that Badfinger could have gone on without Pete Ham. It featured some of the best song writing Tom Evans had done in years and reminded us of the chemistry between him and Joey Molland. Joe Tansin was also an excellent addition with his song writing and guitar playing. His songs "Sympathy" and "The Winner" sounded like Badfinger songs and featured fantastic harmonies between Tom ...

The Greatest Album That No One Has Ever Heard Of
Quite simply, this album is a positively delicious collection of some of the finest melodically-based rock tunes ever written! Clearly, this was Badfinger at their best, and how I would like to remember this fabulous band which unfortunately never had the opportunity to have much of their best music heard by a larger audience. From top to bottom, the tracks are consistently strong, ...

Badfinger didn't know its own strength
After STRAIGHT UP, the Badfinger album for which I reach most often is the band's self-titled 1974 release, BADFINGER. I don't know why BADFINGER isn't considered among the group's strongest records. Excellent songs "Where Do We Go from Here?," "Matted Spam," "Shine On," "Give It Up," and "Lonely You" anchor the album. Then there's "My Heart Goes Out," "Andy Norris," and "Love Is Easy," three ...

This is the Original Badfinger - But with New Overdubs
Day After Day - Live is undoubtedly one of the most discussed/criticized Badfinger CD-releases. Furthermore there have been/are legal disagreements about the financing of the album and division of the profits. What comes out of all this will probabably known in near future, when a court has come to a conclusion ( more details on the matter can be found in Matovina's Badfinger Biography p. ...
