Barenaked Ladies

Reprise / Wea, 1994

An album that carries special sentimental value.
Two of the songs on this album (Everything Old is New Again and The Wrong Man Was Convicted) got me through a particularly difficult breakup with my girlfriend at the time. Needless to say, this album has a special place in my collection. It's a good listen all-around, and if you're in a difficult emotional state like I was, it may strike a chord with you as well. BNL has always been one of my ...

Love, love, love BNL
I love BNL and this CD did not let me down. I went to see the band in concert after getting this CD and they are even better live then they are on the CD. The band comes up with some of the most original lyrics and arrangements ! They are so unique, the music is refreshing and new in a land of cookie cutter bands. A friend went with me to the concert and he was not really familiar with the ...

Great fun!
I knew I'd be making a good choice with this CD, my kids like the other Barenaked Ladies CDs already...and we were not disappointed. Always witty and clever, they have done it again! I felt really good about getting this CD for my 7 yr old, who loves rock music! And my husband and I love it too! We can listen to something in the car that is appropriate for everyone.

Best Darn Band on this Planet
If you haven't heard of BNL purchase any one of their CD's for an experience you will enjoy forever. If you have heard of BNL, 'nuff said for you have this album. For those of you who wonder....there is not another musical group on this planet that has brought such a depth and breath to music since the Beatles. Once again, 'nuff said.

Energized
So many live albums can be "flat". You can't go back and redo anything and if the crowd has an off night or isn't into your show, you can't go back to the studio and re-record cheers or fill in the "other" instrument (the audience). Oh, how different this album is. BNL have so much energy and so much interaction with the crowd, I'll bet no editing was needed. You can hear the crowd singing ...

They bring solice to the Soul when you need them (take your mind off of redundant pressing matters). It's FUN music! Have Fun Kids!!

A smart , funny album
Everyone knows that "One Week" is a great song; there is a reason it was a massive hit. And "It's All Been Done" is a lot of fun too. These first two tracks are the first two singles. Maybe that would be enough to buy the album, but that is just the beginning. Every time I listen, I annoint a different song my favorite. "Alcohol" is a blast with its rollickingly drunken phrasing. "Never ...

Love this
God do I love this album, for the fun, the poignancy and sheer variety. Pinch Me is fantastic, how it swings and catches you with that hook, and it's crazy lyrics and their unique approach to depression, and yet its such an accurate one. Conventioneers is heartbreaking about being so in love and then how it sours. Sell, Sell, Sell sells itself on a great story of acting and selling out, and Baby ...

always there when you need a smile
If you like any of the BNL songs you will enjoy this album. I even caught my man humming it round the house and hes way too laid back for this stuff:). BNL are a fun band with catchy rhythms and smart lyrics. They get in your head and wont leave... I played this non stop when I bought it and 5 years later can still play it over and over and over and over. $1,000,000 is still the fave for me, we ...

KROQ

Watch out, homies, for Santa's Swingin' Sack.
L.A. based Radio station KROQ releases a Christmas CD every year, hosted by deejays Kevin & Bean. This was the 1998 release. It features a mix of Christmas songs and comedy routines. Most of the songs are good and most of the comedy bits are funny. Several of the tracks are only available on this CD, so it's well worth seeking out.

absolutely amazing
I certainly consider myself a BNL fan. However, I only own their cd's (no dvds etc) so apparently I don't actually qualify as a real fan. I must say though that BNL ranks up there in my top three favorite bands. I've been listening to them since 1993 or so. This being said, this cd is MY FAVORITE. I cannot stop listening to it. It was like this with Everything for Everyone, but I wasn't AS ...

Barenaked Ladies, 2005

Maybe ya hadda be there....
A great tour in the summer of '04 saw BNL teaming up with fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette as co-headliners for the Au Naturale Tour. Only downside to the show was that, whereas Alanis "opened", each act did an hour and a half, instead of BNL's usual 2+ hours. Nonetheless, there are numerous highlights: "War on Drugs" is exceptionally powerful done live; "Shopping", in which the boys do a ...

A BNL concert any time I want it!
I love seeing Barenaked Ladies live. Unfortunately, they have the nerve to not tour constantly in my general vicinity, so I can't see their shows all the time. But with the DVD, suddenly this becomes possible. It's unfortunate that they cut a lot out of the show -- no adlibbed songs, very little banter, some great songs missing -- but what's left is still one great show. If you've ever ...

I liked this CD!!
Well, I am a bit of a BNL fan. My first album that I got was "Gordon" back in the 90's....I also have "Stunt" and "Greatest Hits". I happened to buy this album from an online auction thinking I'd give it to a friend when I visit her next month...I even told her I'd got it for her. But after a few listens I am really hooked on this album and will now have to buy another copy so we can have one ...
