A great compilation, just some hits are sorely absent...
This is, personally, my favorite Journey compilation (and god knows there's many of them to choose from). It pretty much gives you all the Perry-era hits you need but oddly some tracks on disc 2 seem slightly arbitrarily chosen. Don't get me wrong all the songs on here are great -- I just wished they saved room for some classic tracks that I feel are sorely absent. Those most notably missing ...

Raised on Radio
Journey has a special place in the heart of anyone who fell in love in the 1980s. Having seen them with Glass Tiger on their Raised on Radio Tour, I can say Steve Perry was Journey. Anything else was Bad English (not a bad group either). This CD has what you are looking for. It is something to put in the car on a 1 hour drive and loose yourself. Be careful not to play air drums on Separate ...

I saw their first public performance.
Dear Amazon: Can I give this 6 stars? I hereby do such: ****** In 1973, I think it was, Journey came to Hawaii and performed at a local "Battle of the Bands" contest in a tiny venue called Andrews Amphitheater. I was there and I will never ever forget that night as long as I live. They did this on purpose to test out the material for this album on a small audience. They had not yet ...

Journey's Third Album With Perry Keeps The Ball Rolling
DEPARTURE, Journey's third album with Steve Perry on vocals, keeps the ball rolling in the right direction. It opens with a hot rocker, "Any Way You Want It", slacks off for a few songs, and then picks up the pace with "Precious Time" and never gives up, especially on "Where Were You." The fact that past and present Journey members advocate sanctions against Indonesia in retaliation for that ...

A great album!
I so fondly remember those days in the late 1970s and early 80s, when Journey burst onto the scene. And, I clearly remember 1981, when their album Escape came out and rocketed to #1 on the album charts. With such songs as Don't Stop Believin', Who's Crying Now, and Open Arms, it was practically the soundtrack of 1981! Well, it's now back again! This CD is a reissue of the 1996 remastered ...

It's the Journey, Not the destination.
Once Steve Perry joined Journey for the "Infinity" album, the band's course was inevitably reset. They changed direction from being a progressive rock band to an arena rock juggernaut. Perry's main contribution was a strong melodic sense coupled to his more soulful vocals. The hits started almost immediately, as "Lights" and "Wheel In The Sky" became FM Rock Radio staples. That is what this ...

They're back!
With the lead singer musical chairs that Journey has been though in recent years, I must admit that staying a faithful fan has been trying. Enter Arnel Pineda...The 40 something Philipino that Neal Schon found on...of all places...YouTube. From the first track of disc 1, "Never walk away", I was hooked, Pineda belts out the lyrics with gusto, hitting those high warbling notes that are an ...

This album will stop you in your tracks!
I was 14 years old when this album was released. I went over to a friends house after school and through the door of his older brother's room was the sound of this voice. The voice was, Steve Perry's. I was already building a pretty diverse record collection. I told my friend to hang on for a second and literally stopped in my tracks and knocked on his brother's door. He opened the door and ...

A Very Good Anthology
For its time Times3 was a very good box set. The booklet explaining the history of Journey alone is worth the money. The B-sides included: For You, Good Times, La Raza del Sol, Only Solutions, Liberty, All That Really Matters, With a Tear and Into Your Arms. "For You" featured a lead singer {Fleischman} who's almost a Perry Clone. Fleischman wrote Wheel in the Sky and the song Perry sung when he ...

Essential for any Journey fan
Don't listen to the guy who said this is not an essential album. That is simply not true. This is a great live album--the last with the great Greg Rolie in the lineup. If you want to talk about nonessential Journey albums they basically start after this one. Downhill from there.

Journey Turns Up the Tempo
This is Journey's second recording with Steve Augeri, the former singer of Tall Stories. They've been out of the spotlight since their last album Arrival bombed, getting mixed opinions but the biggest complaint being too many ballads. With this album the band turns up the tempo, making it a more of a rocker."Out of Harms Way" is a memorable song about the troops we have fighting the war ...

why the critics hated journey
This album is a shimmering, glimmering, moody, mystical masterpiece. The wonderful Cain keyboards are in front of the mix creating atmosphere, there is a little less of the great Neal Schon but what is here is as good as always, and the incomparable Steve Perry's voice is lower in the register than it was through most of his career, which actually makes him sound even better. Indeed, it is just ...

Another Hard-Rockin Classic From Journey
"Evolution"cemented Journey's place as a AOR-radio staple after Steve Perry's poerful pipes gave them their first massive platnium success with "Infinity" in 1978.With its tuneful, melodic rock in plenty supply in such fine songs as "City Of The Angels","Too Late","Lady Luck","Daydream",the Top 20 hit and Journey classic "Lovin,Touchin,Squeezin" and "Just The Same Way"(sung by both keyboardist ...

I would give it six stars, but amazon.com won't let me.
Just came across with the remastered "Frontiers," and boy am I impressed. It sounds so much crisper, clearer are stonger here. And the two unreleased songs Liberty and Only Solutions are just hidden gems, plus you've got two more extras: Only the Young and Ask the Lonely in the same package! Are you kiddin' me! Awesome CD. One of the best live CDs
There's not too many bands that play well live or even change the song from studio version, but Journey does it as good as anyone. I put this CD up there with B.O.C.'s "Extraterestial Live" and UFO's "Strangers in the Night." FYI - Journey has a new singer, Arnel Pineda from the Philippines. He was discovered on YouTube by Neal Schon. I haven't heard him as my work computer doesn't access ...

Might As Well Call It "Greatest Hits, Volume II"
I know, it sounds blasphemous, but "Arrival" has so many strong melodies and hooks on it, that it gives "Escape", "Frontiers", and even their "Greatest Hits" a run for the money. For reference: I'm a music fan who likes all sorts of classic and contemporary music. I own or have owned every Journey album with Steve Perry. I love & miss Steve Perry, too, just like many people here. But I've had ...

I've never reviewed this and thought now would be the appropriate time since the band just released their new album, 'Revelation' with their new lead singer. Amid the many varied reviews on this album, I've always been a fan of this one and consider it very under rated. I was never really sure what the fans were looking for here. After 'Raised on Radio' which was pretty much a Steve Perry solo ...
