Perfect for yuletide mirth and reflection
This recording is a wonderful way of getting into the holiday spirit. In addition to the joy and laughter that are always part of Peter Alsop's songs, there is considerable thoughtful reflection on the deeper meaning of this season of the year. I shouldn't single out one track from this fantastic collection but the song "When Jesus was a Kid" has become a family favorite of ours with its emphasis ...

For the price you can't lose
This 2 cd set consists of, as the title indicates, various 20c pieces or movements from the Naxos catalog. Sound quality is uniformly high, although for some such as Stockhausen's it's not clear if that's good or bad. What is excellent is the variety of the collection--some familiar (Debussy), others not, some pretty, others intentionally weird. Few will find every piece to his or her taste, ...

Kudos to Peter Alsop!
Hats off to Peter Alsop for singing and teaching in a gentle and direct way the very real problems of child sexual molestation. The lyrics are taut and flow together well and the tunes are catchy and register in the minds of listeners. I had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Alsop perform and this work is well worth every cent. It is something that parents, educators, children and the world at ...

A Great Intro to American Classical Music - Almost a Short Course!
Many reasonably sophisticated American and European musiclovers still think there are really no American classical music composers of note other than perhaps Gershwin and Copland. It is to the credit of the Naxos label, via their 'American Classics' series, that the lie is put to that notion. Each month there are new issues from Naxos containing music by American composers. And it was a ...

Great Songs for Kids (and Moms)
Peter Alsop's songs are perfect for not-so-perfect kids. My son and I listened to this collection many times over the years and just had a great time. The important message of a song like "Chickens for Peace" has the right blend of sassy humor (a marching song for chickens) and the promotion of the great ideal of laying down one's pride to "stand" for peace. Peter does it well. He's talented ...

At Last!
I have been searching for this CD for years!! It is my alltime favorite kids album (dating myself there.) I raised 5 kids and numerous neighborhood children on these songs before I wore the tape out! Even today I find myself humming "You Get a Little Extra When You Watch TV!" I am happy to have found this for the next generation--4 Grandkids and counting.

fabulous kids' stories and songs
I remember listening to this with my brother long ago and it sending us into hysterics! Peter and Bill weave a spell of stories, songs, and general craziness and poignancy through their stay in the hospital for, respectively, echo-echo-lalia and appendicitis. A great dream sequence by Bill (from when he was knocked our on the operating table) is especially memorable, as is the tale of Peggy the ...

PETER ALSOP'S Classics for Grown-Ups "EBENEZER'S MAKE OVER" In this "Classics for Grown-Ups" CD, kid's songwriter Peter Alsop goes back to his roots and mixes powerful songs from the feminist men's and women's movements with elements of Firesign theater zaniness, CBS Radio Mystery Theater drama, and his own engaging style of educating people while they're not looking! EBENEZER'S MAKE OVER is a delightful hour of the Dickens "Christmas Carol" ...

Disappointing To Me
I'm just one person but this isn't what I expected. It's good and I've listened to it several times but it isn't what I anticipated it would be. The advertising I'd heard on the radio led me to order this product. I'm learning to be more cautious. I assumed that what was said on the radio would be true when the product arrived. I'd not buy again.
Peter Alsop's Did You Walk? Workout
Peter Alsop
Moose School, 2001
Best Children?s Recording of the Year Winner, Peter Alsop has done it again. This time it?s a Workout music for kids. Peter Alsop?s Did You Walk? Workout is great for PE teachers, or family walks! Humor and physical conditioning! Alsop?s fun-loving tone is set in the very first piece, ?Stretch The Leader?. One of the kids announces to Peter that they want to lead the warm up exercises for a change. Alsop agrees and groans along as the kids ...

KIDS AND ADULTS ENJOY STAYIN' OVER
We found the cassette tape in the public library when the kids were young, and we loved it. Driving around in the car and singing along with Peter Alsop always made our adventures and vacations a lot more fun. Recently I discovered it on CD at Amazon and purchased it, mostly for the memories. When I got home and told the kids I had it (ages 25, 23, 21, and 17), they insisted I put it in the ...

Cheers to Dr. Alsop!
Dr. Peter Alsop has done it again. This gifted performer has taken on yet another serious topic, that is the related topics of death/grief/loss and used his talents as a vehicle for exploration. The tunes are catchy and the lyrics flow together smoothly and well. All in all, a solid performance. This is ideal for parents, educators and children. Heck, it's just plain GOOD!
