The International Submarine Band

Sundown Records, 2000

Don't be misled.
Don't be misled by this album. There is no Gram Parsons involvement on it, although the Amazon listing states that it is a "2000 release for the late Gram Parsons' first band." The album itself is not bad, but if you are looking for some long lost Gram Parsons recordings, they are not to be found here.

The International Submarine Band

Sundown Records, 1996

Gram Parsons' earliest masterpiece.
It's been said that with the exception of a few missteps. SAFE AT HOME is on the par of SWEETHEART OF THE RODEO. It's equally good, I think the mistakes are exaggerated. SAFE AT HOME is definately at the top of most similar releases. Yes, "I Still Miss Someone" isn't quite as realized as some of the later recordings (Nobody does that song like Emmylou Harris), but it was a blueprint. There ...

gram's 2nd best album
i love country rock. i mean real country rock, not the pre-fab stuff that comes out of nashville these days. this album is the real stuff. in fact it's the first country rock album ever recorded and gram parsons at his absolute best. he only topped this effort once, with the great "the gilded palace of sin" (the flying burrito brothers first album ). the cd's only drawback is that it's 28 ...

The Submarines

Nettwerk Records, 2008

Best Power Pop Album of the year
I can't even remember where I stumbled across this Band but I quickly fell in love. The melodies are pure and simple and Blake's voice is amazing. Don't stop at buying this album. Also go see them in concert as they put on an amazing show.

The Submarines

Nettwerk Records, 2006

Yeah I know 5 stars, but I really think they deserve it.
The Submarines has managed to create a very beautiful and worthwile album. I stumbled upon them while looking for artists similar to Death Cab for Cutie, (I think). Apparently in the beginning stages of the album the two are separted because each song alternates between them. But towards the end of the album must've have been around the time they got back together (you can kind of tell through ...

Submarine

Warner Bros / Wea, 2000

A Summer Must
I discovered Submarine while working at my college radio station and fell in love with it. Its rare that a CD comes along and I like every track on the album. Evergreen has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long time and Sumbeam is one of my favorites at the moment. I would tell anyone to buy Skindiving, they won't regret it.

Hard to Look at Easy to See
The Submarine Races

In the Red Records, 2008

Watching the submarine races is a euphemism for making out (and more) in a car. It's the kind of thing a cop would say to be funny when he knocks on the fogged-up window of your Chevy parked in back of the Safeway to ask what you're doing there at 1:00 a.m. This Submarine Races is a three-piece from Chicago, Illinois, fronted by Ian Adams, formerly of The Ponys and Happy Supply.

Submarine Fleet

Submarine Fleet, 2005

Solid piece, good album
Submarine Fleet is a solid band giving a solid piece of work here. This is not a album with catchy singles but more of a album which creates a mood throughout. This is a quality piece which promises enjoyment for a good duration of time.

Submarine

Fantastik!, 1994

The best kept secrets of the Shoegazer/Psyc. Rock Lineage
Are you a fan of vintage Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, My Bloody Valentine? Well are you? Then this Album/Band is for you! I was actually blessed with seeing Submarine play live in London whilst on Holiday to London back in the early 90's I was visiting a friend of mine (a famous album reviewer now, who shall remain nameless) taking classes abroad, and he said to me "You've GOT to see this band" ...

Great catchy rock
Catchy songs in the spirit of Jonathan Richman and the Byrds. Low-fi and fun.
