Amazing alternate take of Wild Night makes this essential!
I was focused on the sound quality of this before hand. Wondering if it would be "loud" and compressed to the point of ruining the actual dynamic range of the recordings, as many people are finding with many newly mastered cds (granted if you only listen on your ipod or on a car's auto sound system this is not as evident). But thankfully the sound is not so loud and compressed as to be ...

connoisseur van?
How many indispensable recordings can one guy release in a spectacular career? Enough for something important to get lost in the shuffle? Well, not for fellow musicians and the knowledgeable fans who have apparently treasured Veedon Fleece as a pinnacle of caledonio soul. (I read somewhere that Sinead O'Connor listens to it before each of her performances.) But feeling satiated by Astral ...

FINALLY, A REMASTER
This amazing 1989 album had never received the remastering treatment it so richly deserved until now. By all means, replace your old CD, because the audio is now absolutely glorious. This re-release is in the first set (Tupelo Honey, It's Too Late To Stop Now, Wavelength, Into The Music, A Sense Of Wonder, Avalon Sunset and Back On Top) of a 2008, four-part re-release of the entire 29-title ...

One of Van's best...
No Guru, No Method, No Teacher is probably Van's best effort of the 1980's and easily his best album since 'Into the Music' in 1979. As far as the bonus tracks go, "Lonely at the Top" is a great song and would have fit on the album nicely. The alternative version of "Oh the Warm Feeling" is nice, though hardly essential. This is a personal favorite of mine and one of Van's greatest triumphs. A ...

Great Sounds From A Classic Artist
I looked forward to buying this CD as soon as I heard about the release date, but then I began reading some of the reviews on CDNow when the recording first became available. Van's music has been an inspiration since the 60's, and I am glad I finally ignored the negative reviews and bought this one. I guess I don't know why some feel this is somehow less than acceptable. Fans have done ...

Beautiful, Soothing, Soaring, Healing
A friend recommended this to me, knowing I was Irish, a Dylan fan, and contemptuous of contemporary popular music. So I bought it, half expecting the radio Van Morrison of "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "And It Stoned Me", "Crazy Love", "Domino", "Wild Night". And at first I hated it. I hated jazz and I hated hippies too. I was much more in tune with Shane McGowan's punk rock ...

"Let Me Tell You About My Baby... Makes Me Feel Alright..." AND SO DOES THIS CD MATE!!
Taking its title from a lyric at the end of "Into The Mystic" on 1970's "Moondance", Van Morrison's 2LP live set "It's Too Late To Stop Now" was released in early 1974. It's always been a fan favourite and was equally championed by critics the world over at the time. It has even been muted by some as one of the best live albums ever made. Well, on hearing it again after all these years on this ...

Ballads, Blues, Soul, Funk & Jazz - It's All Here On PART 2 of "It's Too Late To Stop Now"....
In the real world, another live album by Van Morrison would be met by most people & even some of his die-hard fans with a resounding yawn - yet the wonderful and largely ignored 1994 2 disc set "A Night In San Francisco" didn't and doesn't deserve that. Remastered and repackaged on this 30 June 2008 re-issue, there's even a half-decent bonus track tagged onto the end of CD 2 - "Cleaning Windows". ...

Classic Van
I see I am the first to write a review of this Van Morrison record which was released way back in 1997, and it doesn't surprise me. Why? Because this record never gets mentioned along with the classic Van Morrison records, and it should. You may recognize the blistering hit, "The Burning Ground." But this record is good from start to finish, not a weak cut to be had. All the classic Van ...

Great music to my ears ...
I've been a huge Van Morrison fan since my early twenties. I started buying all his music until 'The Healing Game'. I stopped there because he was releasing an average of 2 albums per year, and my financial status was becoming at risk. I am not a fan of compilations at all. I just bought this CD in a whim and I still don't know why. I may have all the songs in here except for a couple, but the ...

Van Morrison Returns To Ireland And Gets Down To It
WAVELENGTH was a great Van Morrison record after the spotty A PERIOD OF TRANSITION, bringing him back to the sound of classics as MOONDANCE and TUPELO HONEY after A PERIOD OF TRANSITION showed him trying to play straight soul, something he had trouble doing. The title song shows the feeling of being back where you belong after being away, even though much of his best work was produced while he ...

Too Long In Exile
I can not say enough good things about this 2 CD set. Long after the music has stopped the songs keep running though my head. What I most like about it is that the songs on it were chosen by Van Morrison which to me makes it more special and less just commercial successes. Also, the list of people who accompany him is pretty mind blowing. I'd forgotten just how much I liked the sax playing of ...

Van the man...
There's no organization to the music on this cd which has always been one of the great joys of a Van Morrison release where one song seems to lead to another and the sound as a whole is like listening to one inspiring arrangement but even with that in mind this collection is wonderful. Rather then having one large spiritual experience, you get 20 small spiritual miracles. Because to me, Van's ...
