Whitesnake

4 1/2 stars - Whitesnake's finest
This 1980 album was recorded seven years before Whitesnake broke through in America, having changed their sound from hard, bluesy rock n' roll to big-haired pop metal, so the version of "Fool For Your Loving" that kicks off "Ready An' Willing" is the original, not the keyboard-laden one from the 1989 MTV video. Back in 1980 Whitesnake guitarists Bernie Marsden and Mick Moody played big, ...

The peak of Whitesnake.
Slide It In represents (to me at least) David Coverdale and Whitesnake at their peak. While this album didn't quite set any sales records when it initially came out back in 1984, word of mouth spread about it and it reached respectable gold status here in the states. After the self titled 1987 album blew things wide open, people would go back and check out Slide It In and push it's overall ...

The Definitive Collection19 reviews
Whitesnake

Geffen Records, 2006

Sweet satisfaction...I'm ready an' willing!
Although I'm normally used to writing long reviews, I'll keep this one short: "The Definitive Collection" is a great compilation album by Whitesnake, with eighteen awesome songs that have an outstanding sound quality, cool band pics, an interesting history of them and it's all at a good price. Until you start collecting their studio albums, this is a great place to start. Also, definitely check ...

1987, a great year for the Purple family tree
First there was Deep Purple's "The House of Blue Light" from January 1987, and then, "Whitesnake" [the album] from March 1987. Whitesnake's turned out to be the more popular album, maybe the most popular album of the year because of it's commercial appeal, and the music videos that helped to sell it, but make no mistake it's a really good album. But Deep Purple's was even better in my opinion, a ...

Whitesnake

Geffen Gold Line Sp., 1996

Heavy rock at its best for Whitesnake
A great album by David Coverdale (ex-Trapeze, ex-Deep Purple member) and crew. Two of the songs off this one helped put Whitesnake over the top later in the 80's. But this one really kicks butt, as well as their other early albums, (which are their best), and after falling in the shadows of Deep Purple, really made a name of themselves. A classic for the ages.

WTF??
I think Amazon needs to pay me some dividends!! When this first came out Amazon was listing this for a price of between $35 and $45. I had to go elsewhere to get it for the price it was really worth. Now after paying $25 elsewhere, Amazon lists it for less than $20. What a rip off!!

One of the best
Hands down the best CD by this band. This was just before they started their more commercial era and I tell you what this one finds it's way into my CD player just as much as the day I bought it. If you haven't discovered the other side of Whitesnake this is a good place to start. One word PHENOMENAL!

Extensive Whitesnake/Coverdale package
THE BAND: David Coverdale and an assortment of players from the late 1970's through the late 90's. Most notably playing on one or more Whitesnake albums: John Sykes (guitar), Steve Vai (guitar), Adrian Vandenberg (guitar), Micky Moody (guitar), Rudy Sarzo (bass), Neil Murray (bass), Jon Lord (keyboards/organ), Tommy Aldridge (drums), Aynsley Dunbar (drums), Ian Paice (drums), Cozy Powell (drums). ...

Slide WHAT in?
I bought the U.S. version of this first, so I'm obviously more partial to that one. This U.K. version was the first one to be recorded and has Micky Moody instead of guitarist John Sykes, and some bassist by the name of Colin instead of original Whitesnake member Neil Murray. The songs are in a completely different order, starting out with the atmospheric hard rocker " Gambler " instead of the ...

Here I Go Again: The Whitesnake Collection10 reviews
Whitesnake

Geffen Records, 2002

Worth the Money even for this die hard!
Lets start by saying I own all things Whitesnake. So to some I may be a fool for purchasing this collection when I already had the albums contained and most of the B Sides(from greatest hits and others specials). However, the remastered quality of these discs made it worth every penny I plunked down. Of course this spans the Geffen years of the snake, so it is the American versions and mixes ...

Coverdale back to his Solo Style: Not for Hair Metal Boneheads
This cd should be credited to David Coverdale....It has more in common w/ his 1977 Northwinds and 1976 White Snake solo records than any Whitesnake records of the 70's or 80's. Restless Heart is a mature, passionate, honest, introspective, beautiful and sincere release by one of rocks greatest talents. Don't Fade Away could be a Bryan Ferry song.....beautiful harmonies w. female ...

Hey, Lawrence, are U Mad???
Maybe you're too young to realize what Whitesnake was all about... a great great bluesy-hardrock-band... maybe you grew up listenting to the band in their glam era, when they attempted to a more metal oriented stuff. That wasn't too bad, but we, the real Whitesnake's fans, will always prefer the band in their original style, and "Ready An' Willing" is their very best LP ever! No fillers, great ...

Come an' Get It!
The title says it all. Every song is a killer. This is what great rock music is suppose to sound like. I think it's one of Whitesnake's best of the early albums and I highly recommend it. Come n' Get this!
