Paul Potts

Sony, 2007

Diamond in the rough
Paul Potts, winner of Britain's Got Talent will absolutely blow you away. He has the most raw talent that I've seen in years and I get goosebumps on just about every song on this album. There are a couple of Christmas ones too. He was truly a "diamond in the rough" and quickly became famous after his 2007 win. He was a mobile phone salesman by day and considers his voice his "best friend" ...

Kapell's Discovered Treasures
"Willy was beyond a doubt the greatest pianistic talent this country [USA] has ever produced." Leon Fleischer America has seen its share of pianistic careers cut short for varying reasons: whether due to burnout (Van Cliburn), hand injuries (Leon Fleischer, Gary Graffman), or other ailments (Byron Janis). Even Murray Perahia, arguably the best American pianist active today, has battled stress ...

Baby love
My baby loves the baby einstein movies (3 months old) and this uses the music from the baby Mozart video, so he recognizes it and laughs and plays while listening!

Decca, 2005

The best CD of Pavarotti, without question!
This CD of the great Maestro, features all the best arias and songs, including my favorite, Donizetti's Ah Mes Ami, which gave Pav the title of "King of the High C's". Without question, Pav is and will always remain the greatest voice in opera. This is the CD that I always start my car with! Love it and give it the highest recommendation. Any opera lover, and all Pav lovers should own this ...

Tchaikovsky - Eugene Onegin / Fleming, Vargas, Hvorostovsky, Gergiev, Carsen [Metropolitan Opera 2007]29 reviews
Renee Fleming, Ramon Vargas

Decca, 2007

The best DVD version of Eugene Onegin
Robert Carsen's production is lovely with a successful blend of conservative and new ideas. I know this opera for years, and have quite a few recordings of it. But never before did its closing scene move me, as in this performance. This is mostly because of the singing and acting intensity of Hvorostovsky and Fleming. Highly recommended.

boy wonders of London
This cd is a reflection of their current US concert tour. I was fortunate enough to see them in Hartford recently. I purchased a couple of cd's of theirs before buying concert tickets. After hearing them, I immediately got the tickets. It was one of the best live musical experiences I've had in years. I'd recommend this to any lover of male choral music.

The Most Soothing Lullabies In The Universe3 reviews
Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, ...

Denon Records, 2004

Really great CD for long car rides!
This is a lovely CD for everyone. It is sincerely mellow with few exceptions and makes a soothing sound for the car (especially for long car rides). On the first of 2 cd's, the set up is a little odd. The first 2 songs are mellow and relaxing (just enough to help put a baby to sleep) then the 3rd song comes on like a thunderbolt and will wake the child if your not careful.

Verdi - La Traviata25 reviews
Renee Fleming, Rolando Villazon

Decca, 2007

La Traviata with renovated airs
Excellent production. Excellent singing by Renee Fleming a very convincing Violeta projected through her magnific dramatic capabilities. Her beautiful voice recreates the suffering and happiness of this poor soul in Paris. Fleming shows once again her top star colors. The new Mexican tenor Rolando Villazon keep on demostrating his growing maturity as an actor. His exceptional voice surprises one ...

Puccini - La Boheme / Pavarotti, Scotto, Niska, Wixell, Plishka, Levine, Metropolitan Opera20 reviews
Renata Scotto, Luciano Pavarott

Deutsche Grammophon, 2005

La Boheme
A marvelous version of this great opera. The 'young' Pavoratti's voice simply soars. I saw the new Met version recently which was excellent, but no comparison in tenors. What a loss too soon when he died.

Andrea Bocelli

AMAZING! Couldn't Stop Playing It!
When I first bought this CD, I couldn't stop playing it! For days I did almost nothing but listen to this extraordinary voice singing these beautiful songs. After more than five years, I still listen to it often and am surprised to find that I love it every bit as much as when I first discovered it. This is the best of Boccelli's albums (although his concert at Lake Las Vegas is a close ...

The Opera Gala: Live from Baden-Baden10 reviews

Deutsche Grammophon, 2008

The Ladies Were Great but Evening Belonged to Vargas
This DVD of the Opera Gala from Baden-Baden is truly a worthy addition to anyone's collection of beautiful singing. The video and audio are excellent. All four featured singers possess gorgeous voices and in top form. The ladies looked divine and performed all their numbers magnificently. The baritone Ludovic Tezier was likewise quite impressive in my first introduction to his considerable ...

Carreras · Domingo · Pavarotti: The Three Tenors in Concert / Mehta31 reviews
Giacomo Puccini, Salvatore Cardillo, ...

Decca, 1990

Beautiful music
The talent of these men is wonderful. Carraras is not my favorite but the CD is worth every cent to hear Domingo and Pavarotti. I have given this CD as a gift several times to share these beautiful voices with my friends and family. Everyone should cherish every note Pavarotti sings since he won't sing again.

Gianluca Alfano, Arrigo Boito, ...

Deutsche Grammophon, 2008

The new Domingo/Pavarotti Combined
Villazon has an outstanding voice, the best among the new tenors in my opinion. It is strong, does not stray flat or sharp, has depth and darkness when that is needed but can also be light and lyrical. His choice of arias on this CD provides proof that he is capable of playing and singing a wide and diverse range of operatic characters.

Voce D'Italia: Arias For Rubini18 reviews
Gioachino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini, ...

Decca, 2008

By now, a known quantity
After flirting with other repertoire and recording a crossover disc or two, the reigning Rossini tenor Juan Diego Florez returns to what he does best on this album: the florid, high-lying music of early nineteenth-century bel canto opera. The concept here is to evoke comparison with Giovanni Rubini, the tenor for whom this music was written, and it's hard to believe that Florez' predecessor was ...
