Ian Mcewan

Anchor, 1998

A Terse Literary Masterpiece on Obsessive Love from Ian McEwan

+ Forever changed
+ A tale about obsession

Ian McEwan's slender novel, "Enduring Love", moves along at such an episodic fast clip that it might remind readers more of an Ian Fleming James Bond tale, than as a sophisticated literary confection from one of Great Britain's - and truly the English language's - foremost writers of fiction. ...

Dean Koontz

Hideaway

+ Slow building but reaches an intense climax

I love Dean Koontz' Odd Thomas Series, so I went out and bought a truck load of Koontz books, and Hideaway was one of them; it's disturbing in so many ways, but I couldn't put it down, so I guess that makes me "disturbed."

+ Kiss the girls
+ Riveting

This 2nd book in the Alex Cross series was absolutely spellbinding! I couldn't put it down. False Memory498 reviews
Dean Koontz

Bantam, 1999

Way too much descriptive, repetitive writing

I have read most of DK's books and this one was almost painful. Things really don't start moving until half way through. I forced myself to continue and did a lot of skimming when it came to the wordy descriptions and detailed repetative drama in the beginning. Rather disappointing.

Along Came a Spider

+ Patterson At His Best
+ Good Read

This suspense thriller was read by 2 great readers. It was listened to while in my car and it was hard to turn it off when arriving at my destination. This was my first book on tape by James Patterson and I hope that others by this author will be read as superbly.
