Teach Yourself Russian Complete Course Audio Package15 reviews
Daphne M. West

McGraw-Hill Companies, 2002

Best book I've come across

+ Great book/CD Combo

Well organized, concise and well explained. Everything is taught in the context of conversational usage so it's easier to remember rather than just memorizing vocab and grammar by rote. Highly recommend. The CDs are useful for hearing pronunciation but that's it... They are pretty short.

P. M. Barford

Comstock Publishing, 2001

The 1st book those interested in the early Slavs should buy

+ Great introduction of the Ancient Slavs
+ The Early Slavs: a wealth of hard-to-get information

P. M. Barford is a British scholar residing in Poland. With this book he has made a valuable contribution by providing an easy to read, and best of all OBJECTIVE overview of this often controversial subject area. Old Church Slavonic Grammar5 reviews
Horace G. Lunt

Walter de Gruyter, 2001

Very good OCS grammar

+ Lunt is the Standard Reference Grammar for Old Church Slavonic
+ Wow -- a new edition

Lunt's book is exactly what he described it to be. He never said it's a study in comparative linguistic or a "how to" textbook, but a reference grammar. And a pretty good one. His tables and charts are well organized and provide a nice summary and reference to OCS grammar. I also like the fact ...
