Fabulous for young readers

The Word Bird books by Jane Belk Monclure are wonderful books for beginner readers and those who are "on the cusp" of reading. They are easy, cute, colorful and just terrific. My son loves them. We also like the alphabet series that seems not to exist on Amazon but check your local library.... they ...

Word Bird is a winner

The Word Bird Series is an excellent way to help get children on their way toward phonetic reading, and children love the books. This one is no different. I have used these books with my children and grandchildren, and once they master the short vowel words, it is only a baby step toward reading ...

I'm grateful for this book

My son, 6 years old, was "on strike" from reading. This book brought him back. He loves reading it, loves looking at the pictures, loves the fact that he can read it by himself. It is an intelligent, well-illustrated book, that speaks to kids' interests. The words are chosen carefully to be ...

Pat the Cat1 review
Jacqui Hawkins

Pat & Pals Limited, 2006

Terrific for learning to read

My daughter loves this book. It lays out all the words that end in -at in a way that makes it easy for her to see how they're similar, and read them herself. A confidence-boosting book for kids learning to read, and it is funny, too.

We Love This Book

What's for Lunch?: A Play-And-Read Book1 review
Eric Carle

Cartwheel Books, 1998

A book incorporating many basic concepts/skills.

This is a great book which incorporates many basic concepts such as counting, manual dexterity, fruit naming, and colors. Repetition allows a young child to "read" the book. The one disappointment was the illustration of bananas which are shown growing the wrong way (bananas grow "up").

Good first reader

This is a sweet book that starts with red objects and progresses to the abstract "red" things such as love. IT is very repeatious with its words which is great for beginning readers. A great gift for Valentine's Day to your beginning readers.
