Cygnet2 reviews
Patricia A. McKillip

Ace Trade, 2007

The Cygnet flies

+ Two in one

Two of Patricia McKillip's most lyrical books are the Cygnet duology, the story of a sorcerous family and the mysterious forces that shape their world. "Cygnet" compiles those books, bringing together the intoxicating mixture of unique magic, invisible dragons, and McKillip's shimmering prose. ...

Magic Carpet Books, 2006

Never forgotten

+ Good Book

I read this book perhaps 30 years ago, fell in love with it and Patricia McKillip then, and I've just reordered it to see how it re-reads. Although it's fantasy fiction I actually learned a lot about self-awareness from The Forgotten Beasts of Eld. A beautiful book, wonderfully well written.

Mythago Wood38 reviews
Robert Holdstock

Orb Books, 2003

Top-tier Contribution to Fantasy Literature

+ I love Holdstock

Robert Holdstock's Mythago Wood is an underappreciated, yet significant contribution to the fantasy genre in many ways. To start out with, the work is well written and conveys a dark and mystical mood in a forest setting. Also the plot of Mythago Wood is anything but formulaic; nevertheless, the ...

Hope Mirrlees, Neil Gaiman

Cold Spring Press, 2005

I adored this book

+ An interesting read, if not in everyone's taste

I purchased this book on the review by Neil Gaiman stating it as his, "fairy tale/detective novel/history/fantasy novel." I was definitely not disappointed. I have never felt a desire to leave a review for a book before but I had to share my appreciation with other undecided readers! It may take a ...

Moonheart

+ My favorite author
+ FAN

I thought this book was excellent! It started off kind of slow. But after a while, especially the second half, I couldn't put it down until I finished it. There are a lot of characters to keep track of and some of the expressions that they make are sort of silly but I thought the overall story ...
