Captain America Vol. 5: Civil War9 reviews
Ed Brubaker

Marvel Comics, 2007

Captain America...but not.

+ Call it Winter Soldier...

The book was good, don't get me wrong. But it seemed to be alot about the people around Cap instead of Cap himself, with a few exceptions. IF you are collecting Civil War TPBs it's a must. I like the Winter Soldier One-shot. All in all, a good read.

A Collecter's Review

+ The dream is dead...for now

You mean to tell me after over 50 years of fighting in numerous wars and battling a plethora of sordid, odious, and sadistic villians one stealth villian's bullet finally kills the legendary Captain America? Well, it is written well, but not a believable tale.

PC Cap? This is how Cap's always been

+ Nice try at tackiling a tricky subject...

Some of the reviewers here have apparently read this book as their first Captain America experience, and are saddened that Cap isn't a right wing hawk, who loves blindly following his goverment above all else. Thankfully, Cap has never been that man. Not since the 1950's where he was revived as a ...

Two Arc Mishmash

+ Cap gets disassembled
+ Silver Age goofyness meets Priest's writing confusing-ness

This features, as previously stated, Captain America and The Falcon 5-7, and Captain America 29-32. The issues with the Falcon, while somewhat off pacing-wise, suffer from being the second half of an entirely different story arc. In these issues, the actual connection to Avengers: Disassembled ...

Another great Captain America graphic novel

It's March 1964, and a submarine in the North Atlantic finds a body frozen in a block of ice, the body of Captain America, America's hero who disappeared some twenty years earlier. And, what comes as a great shock is that he isn't dead, Captain America is alive. But...it's Captain America who gets ...

Rob liefeld's version of Captain America!

This is Rob Liefeld's version of Captain America! Captain America does not have the "A"on his forehead. Instead Cap has the Heroes Reborn "eagle" that most people did not like or care. I think this book show's one of Rob Liefeld's best artwork! You can tell rob liefeld put a-lot heart and soul ...

Empahsizes the SOLDIER in Super-soldier!

+ Out of print..

Great story-arc that shows that Cap is also the best soldier you can have. Captain America hasn't been this great since Mark Waid/Ron Garney were working on the book.

+ Excellent Reboot for Captain America

I had bailed out on the comic scene for good following High School, although I continued to pick up Jeff Smith's "Bone", since I knew it was a finite series, so I wouldn't have to be chained to it forever. Well, the day came and the series ended, and quite frankly, I missed my bi-monthly excursions ...

Mark Waid, Cap's best writer

Ok, to be fair, I don't actually own this particular trade paperback. I bought all the original issues (including variant covers, 'cause I'm a sucker for Cap). Back in the mid-1970's, Jack Kirby would return to the character that he had co-created, Captain America. Now comic hype was nowhere near what it is today.
