Daddy's Girl 62 reviews Lisa Scottoline
HarperCollins, 2007
Not the typical Scottline book
+ Don't give up on this one... it DOES get better! + Coming out of your shell - explosively!
Not the typical Scottline. The herion, although strong, seems conflicted. This does not take away from the plot, which in Scottline fashion has many twists and turns. Can't figure out the reason for the title. Who picked it out? Anyway it's still worth reading.

The Tenth Justice 247 reviews Brad Meltzer
Grand Central Publishing, 1998
High expectations, low satisfaction
I heard so much about this book, I was pumped to read it. Instead of my normal thrift store book run, I went to get this from an actual book store!
The story is good. But 3/4 of the way through, when the tone changes, I felt like I was reading a different book altogether. I don't know if this ...

The Suspect 38 reviews John Lescroart
Dutton Adult, 2007
Guilty until proven innocent
+ A cracker of a court room drama; Cocktail dose of Michael Conelly and John Grisham mashed up into a powerful novel
This is an interesting crime novel. A man returns home and finds his wife's body. A relentless police inspector immediately assumes that the man is guilty party because, statistically, the spouse is the most likely suspect. He fabricates a case based on scenarios he creates using circumstantial ...

Beach Road 259 reviews James Patterson, Peter de Jonge
Little, Brown and Company, 2006
I loved this book!
+ Good Summer Reading! + quality Patterson
I usually pride myself on being able to figure out the "culprit" before the end of the book; I was quite surprised!
I personally like that James Patterson writes short chapters because I can put the book down at the end of a chapter.....or if I want to read a little more, the next chapter won't be ...

Double Tap 53 reviews Steve Martini
Putnam Adult, 2005
Another Great Book by this Author
+ Martini does it again
While I am a huge Steve Martini fan, I was a little concerned when I read the dust jacket blurb about this book. I'm not a big fan of military thriller style books, and from the description, it appeared that he had moved closer to that genre than to the legal mystery category. However, judging ...

A Certain Justice (Abe Glitsky) 14 reviews John Lescroart
Signet, 2006
Never a dull moment
+ The Wrong Man + A wholly improbable premise salvaged by terrific story and commentary
A senseless carjacking/murder by a black gang banger begets a mob lynching of a black lawyer and the city on the bay explodes into a race riot.
Against this violent background John Lescroart unleashes a cast of unforgetable characters.
