The Invention of Hugo Cabret 197 reviews Brian Selznick
Scholastic Press, 2007
Wonderfully suspenseful for the whole family
+ Hugo Cabret
Picked this up recently by chance. What a fantastic find! The pencil drawings are warm and provide a lovely touch to an otherwise entirely self-supporting story. Whenever we had to put it down, I don't know who was more disappointed (and excited to get back to it) - my daughters, ages 6 and 8, or ...

Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1) 2693 reviews Christopher Paolini
Laurel Leaf, 2006
A wonderful book to hear
+ One of the Best Reads Since Dracula
I enjoyed listening to this book as I worked. The writing is descriptive and allows you to lose yourself in the story. After watching the movie, I recommend listening to these unabridged cds. The reader has a wonderful, clear voice that gives life to all the books characters.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke (Hardcover)
Ok so I have to admit this book started off slow. Its boring for about the first half. But I stuck it out and read until the end and was so glad I did. This book is so magical you can imagine everything Cornelia Funke wrote down. This book made me think so ...

A good ending for the series. I enjoyed it and will be happy to share the series with my grandchildren. The books are not only a good adventure series, the characters grow, evolve and develop good characteristics that I would like to see in more people in my community.

Septimus Heap Box Set: Books 1 and 2 (Septimus Heap) 10 reviews Angie Sage
HarperTrophy, 2007
Septimus Heap rocks and this set is the best way to get started.
+ very entertaining to read + Great Books
Pitched at 4th-8th graders, the Septimus Heap books are awesome and have wider appeal (my second grade son is now reading the 3rd and his mother and I devoured these with glee). They are well written with relentless page turning pace and, while packed with danger and excitement, light enough not ...
