Jedi Search (Star Wars: The Jedi Academy Trilogy, Vol. 1) 152 reviews Kevin Anderson
Spectra, 1994
Librarian MS
+ Fun in spite of continuity conflicts with the films (that came after this book was written) + A VERY good start to an intriguing series
Some of the boys really like the smaller Star Wars novels. I have tried to get what they request for summer reading.

The Courtship of Princess Leia (Star Wars) 219 reviews Dave Wolverton
Spectra, 1995
Leia in love, Han to the rescue
Mr. Wolverton's book continues the pursuit of Warlord Zinsj but ties the tale in with Han's courtship of Leia and Leia's apparent admiration for another suitor. At the beginning of the book, General Solo returns from a five-month campaign against Zinsj and believes that he has won a major victory. ...

Children of the Jedi (Star Wars) 176 reviews Barbara Hambly
Spectra, 1996
Coffee cups??
An already mediocre book in which the author places "coffee cups" in the Millennium Falcon. The author appears to have been simply cashing in on the book deal without any real understanding of the Star Wars universe. She could have called them anything else, and this reader would not have wanted ...

Star Wars: The Approaching Storm 86 reviews Alan Dean Foster
Del Rey, 2003
The Approaching Storm
I liked this book although it was hard to follow at times. While reading more about Obi-Wan was good, I had a hard time really getting into Luminara's character. Bariss was a good character, yet there needs to be more about her. If you want to read Star Wars in order, this a good read!

Heir to the Empire (Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy, Vol. 1) 377 reviews Timothy Zahn
Spectra, 1992
Almost the first Expanded Universe Novel!
+ Superb kickoff to a great trilogy set five years after Return of the Jedi + Good Surprise
That is if you don't count Splinter of the Mind's Eye, or the Han trilogy, or Lando trilogy. This is a great series and could easily be credited with keeping the Star Wars series in the general populace's eye during the late eighties and early nineties. With no new films to date Star Wars was ...

Betrayal (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 1) 92 reviews Aaron Allston
Del Rey, 2006
A New Chapter Begins
Being a geeky Star Wars fan, there's a couple of things I'll always envy about its universe: I'll never be able to wield a (real) lightsaber. I'll never be able to use the force (everyone's tried once, right?) And, new to the list - I'll never be able to outwit assassins and go on space adventures ...

Survivor's Quest (Star Wars) 70 reviews Timothy Zahn
Del Rey, 2004
Best SW book since ages!
+ great star wars whodunnit + Don't believe the critics. . .
Survivor's quest takes place about 3 years after the Thrawn duology, which unfortunately was Zahn's worst work to date. Still, knowing the excellent Thrawn trilogy (which started ALL the flow of new Star Wars books), I decided to give this novel a chance.
I'm no native English speaker, but I ...

+ SW Book for Lit Fans
As I read some of the reviews for this book I just couldn't resist having a reaction. This is the one book that I keep recalling in my mind about once every few months.
I enjoyed the fact that the kids were the main characters, for multiple reasons: they to some degree come to age in this book ...

Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader (Star Wars) 142 reviews James Luceno
Del Rey, 2006
The best Star wars book I've read so far
+ Good book. I'd recommend picking it up.
I loved this book it was really well done and gave me what I was longing to know about Anakin/Vader. At the end of episode three I remember wondering how Anakin dealt with his new suit and the lack for compassion he was suppose to have. I wanted to know if the good part of him continued to fight ...

I like descriptions of the vehicles. Some new ones that I never heard of. I like hearing and reading about stuff I never saw in the movies. Some nice new characters too, Like Genaral A'baht and Kiles L'toth. There were also main characters from the the original Star Wars movies. I like when the ...
