Being a Green Mother (Incarnations of Immortality, Book Five) 39 reviews Piers Anthony
Del Rey, 1988
Amazing book
+ Great series, decent book. + Pretty good in the series
My wife recently introduced me to the Incarnations of Immortality series. When I finished the first, On a Pale Horse I was blown away. It was so much better than any of the Xanth novels. I moved quickly to the second, Bearing An Hourglass, and was slightly disappointed (it was sluggish, but ...

Absolutely Wonderful
+ Fated to greatness [no spoilers] + Lots of fun, Packed with Twists & Turns
This was the first of the Incarnations books that I read, and fell in love with the series within the first couple of chapters. I was already a Piers Anthony fan, loving the Xanth series, but this series is much more mature and has deeper plots and characters than the light Xanth books do. You ...

And Eternity (Incarnations of Immortality) 54 reviews Piers Anthony, Piers A. Jacob
Eos, 1991
The Incarnations of Immortality series
To sum up the entire Incarnations series: good premise; poor delivery.
The basic concept is great; have normal mortal people become temporary immortals in order to fulfill the job duties of each "office" (death, time, fate, war, nature, good, evil). The offices are unknown to ordinary people; ...

Tor Science Fiction, 2002
Dissappointment to Anthony fan
As an Anthony fan for 19 years I was deeply dissappointed in this book. It was not as well crafted as previous books in the series and the characters and plot lacked cohesion. I particularly disliked the inclusion of the rape and child abuse scenes - they added nothing to the plot and could have ...

Wielding a Red Sword (Incarnations of Immortality) 26 reviews Piers Anthony
Del Rey, 1987
another great story in the series
+ War, what's it good for? [no spoilers] + Great Book!
I think this book was the most spell bonding of the series so far. Book 1 was great and I still like it the best, but this story just made you want to read it and not put the book down until the end. Hope the remaining ones are as good.

Virtual Mode 34 reviews Piers Anthony
Ace, 1991
A Darkly Glorious Book That Pulls Few Punches
+ Loved it + One of his best books ever
I sympathize with the reviewer who said that the first few pages of _Virtual Mode_ turned them off of the book. I was given this novel as a gift when I was about eleven or so; I, too, read the opening passage and was disturbed into putting the book away, not touching it again for another year. ...

Amazing! How does he come up with this stuff?!
+ Interesting book + Confused?
Like the first book in this series "Virtual Mode", this is another wonderful trip into an area never gone to before in a novel and a unique way of getting there. As a writer, Mr. Anthony never ceases to amaze me! He always entertains while educating you at the same time.

Sad news folks...
+ Great series
I have a version of Chaos Mode in which Mr. Anthony describes his reasons for discontinuing the mode series. Apparently, he got a lot of letters of complaint from parents stating that the relationship between Colene and Darius was innapropriate and too graphic. This may have caused the publisher ...
