Accelerando (Singularity) 84 reviews Charles Stross
Ace, 2006
Picking up the shattered pieces of my pre acceleration brain
+ A pretty amazing book.
I believe Cory Doctorow said it best when he said something like 'makes hallucinogens obsolete' This book is brain meltingly lovely. Instead of being sci fi to inspire the dreams of yesterday (which seems to be so much of what's out there), Stross creates sci fi that is truly future speculative ...

Singularity Sky (Singularity) 69 reviews Charles Stross

Wonderful but probably not for everyone
I personally was absolutely spellbound by this book. Wonderful creative ideas: A space-going civilization called "The Festival" that attacks by raining down telephones that, if you pick on up, will grant you your every wish if you only tell it a story... "The Eschaton", a sort-of god that evolved ...

Ace Hardcover, 2007
Good Extrapolation about the Future
I had never read any Charles Stross before. I found this to be a great book, well written with a nice, flowing style. The ideas about what the future will bring in the next few decades were believable and interesting, as was the story. A good read. I recommend it.

A Colder War (Great Science Fiction Stories) Charles Stross
AudioText, 2005
Roger Jourgensen has the same feeling now, as an adult reading this intelligence assessment, that he had as a child, watching the nuclear powered bombers sleeping in their concrete beds. There's a blurry photograph of a sleeping giant pointed at NATO, more terrifying than any nuclear weapon.

Iron Sunrise (Singularity) 36 reviews Charles Stross
Ace, 2005
Interesting second Rachel Mansour book
+ Great SF is alive and well with Stross..
"Iron Sunrise" is a sort of sequel to "Singularity Sky," in that Rachel Mansour and her partner Martin make a return appearance, and that both books are set in the same milieu. However, in most other respects the two novels are very different. "Singularity Sky" is a wildly speculative SF novel ...

The Family Trade (Merchant Princes) 45 reviews Charles Stross
Tor Fantasy, 2005
Fresh and enjoyable
This definitely isn't your average, run-of-the-mill fantasy novel. In fact, if you tilt your head just so, it can legitimately look an awful lot like science fiction.
Which makes sense, actually, 'cause Charles Stross has made his reputation as a hard sci-fi author, and he brings that same kind ...

Tor Books, 2007
Fourth Book in the Series shares strengths and weaknesses of its predecessors
+ When it's good, it's very very good. When it's not... it's okay. + Not Free SF Reader
The Merchants War is the fourth book in Charles Stross series about a clan of world-walking drug dealers, and the book shares the strengths and the weaknesses of the previous volumes and ramps up the action and plot nicely.
Book Three, Clan Corporate ended with a marriage announcement and ...

if you like Stross, a must read.
+ optimistic projections + A worthwhile collection from a promising new talent in science fiction.
ANTIBODIES alone is worth the price of admission on this book. Significant for readinig Stross' getting up to speed work and some of these stories are classic SF in their own right.

Incredible, even as a standalone
+ "In the Village"

The Clan Corporate: Book Three of The Merchant Princes 25 reviews Charles Stross

An important 'bridge' to the Merchant Princes series
Let us be honest, this series is not Stross at his finest. His other books like Iron Sunrise, Singularity Sky, Accelerando, Glasshouse and The Atrocity Acrhives are far more creative and cutting edge stories. Nevertheless, I find this Merchant Princes series readable and this book in particularly I ...
