Working with Microsoft(R) Visual Studio(R) 2005 5 reviews Craig Skibo, Marc Young, ...
Microsoft Press, 2006
A very useful book for what it covers
+ Advanced book on VS 2005 Addins
The previous reviewer hates this book for the very reason I love this book. This book covers everything about customizing Visual Studio, and does so in a crisp, understandable way. Visual Studio may not be as customizable as Eclipse, but it's close, and this book shows you how to do it. I agree ...

Microsoft® Visual Basic® 2005 Express Edition: Build a Program Now! (Pro Developer) 13 reviews Patrice Pelland
Microsoft Press, 2005
Good Cookbook
+ Can be downloaded for free
This book actually helped me quite a bit. It is strictly a cookbook with step by step instructions for building several programs. I found the detailed instructions for binding controls on a form to an underlying database very helpful. Once that program is working, it is easy to modify it to get ...

Introducing Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 for Developers (Pro - Developer) 6 reviews Sean Campbell, Scott Swigart, ...
Microsoft Press, 2004
Readable
I've read the first couple of chapters of this book, and so far I find it a very readable introduction to VB.NET 2005.
This book works best if you have prior VB experience either with VB 6.0 or VB.NET. I have experience with VB 3.0 through VB 6.0 and made the switch to VB.NET 2002 in Beta 2.

Practical Standards for Microsoft Visual Basic .NET (Pro-Developer) 13 reviews James Foxall
Microsoft Press, 2002
Instructor
+ A Good Guide For All VB.NET Programmers
I have used both the VB6 and VB.net versions in my classes. In fact I require this as a additional text for all my classes. I believe very strongly that Hungarian notation should be part of a program.
It sounds like these reviewers that don't like Hungarian notation program in a vacuum. It is ...

Developing Microsoft .NET Controls with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET (Pro Developer) 16 reviews John Connell
Microsoft Press, 2003
Learn nooks and crannys of the .Net Framework
+ The outstanding, and the ugly + Good Book, lacking in the ASP.NET Department
If you think you know the framework, I suggest you take a look at Mr. Connell's book. He covers many undercovered areas in great detail. Isolated storage and encryption come to mind. In short, if you are looking for new material, I highly recommend this book. Its on a par with Mr. Connell's .Net ...
