Poetic diversion

+ This may well be my favorite book of all time
+ Simply Magnificant, Stellar, Wonderful, and Everything Between

To be fair, this book is not for everyone. In rapt affection, i read passages to my friend, and he balked at the superfluous language. He is a man who enjoys concise, dense language full of references that would make Pound proud. He doesn't read poetry, or like language for the sake of language. ...

Never forgotten

+ Good Book

I read this book perhaps 30 years ago, fell in love with it and Patricia McKillip then, and I've just reordered it to see how it re-reads. Although it's fantasy fiction I actually learned a lot about self-awareness from The Forgotten Beasts of Eld. A beautiful book, wonderfully well written.

Patricia A. McKillip

Ace Trade, 2007

The Cygnet flies

+ Two in one

Two of Patricia McKillip's most lyrical books are the Cygnet duology, the story of a sorcerous family and the mysterious forces that shape their world. "Cygnet" compiles those books, bringing together the intoxicating mixture of unique magic, invisible dragons, and McKillip's shimmering prose. ...

Del Rey, 1999

The illusive boundary between the fields we know, and the fields that we do not...

+ The Change in the World
+ An elegant, lapidary masterpiece

I'll be brief here. Quite simply, I wish that I would have been introduced to this book three or four decades ago. I've read fantasy off and on for most of my life but somehow I missed this gem of the first and best. It is immediately obvious where Tolkien received much of his inspiration, but it ...

Don't listen to the nay sayers! Great Book and series!

+ "Be true. You need not fail."

I am re-reading the two series after reading them 20 years ago. I have read some of the negative reviews and was kind of amazed. I am willing to accept people have differnt views, but I figured that anyone reading these books would like rich fanatsy { Tolkien, Feist, etc}. Yes, they are not ...
