Batman: The Dark Knight Returns 338 reviews Frank Miller
DC Comics, 1997
One of the best Batman stories
+ Changing the face of Batman + Fantastic
Well, the title sums up my opinion on The Dark Knight Returns, though it certainly isn't the best-rounded Batman story of all time, it still leaves a significant impact on readers. The story peaks at many points, and makes large dips at others, but the ending makes up for all its minor flaws.

Awesome
+ Setup, but it's Neil Gaiman doing another comic series-- how can you go wrong? + Fantastic short reading experience
If you like Neil Gaiman, and especially if you like comics, you need to get this or borrow it from a friend/library right away. It doesn't take long to read, but it is amazing.

Hellblazer: Haunted 11 reviews Warren Ellis

Unsavory and brutal; pure Hellblazer and definitely pure Ellis
+ Graphic SF Reader + Haunted by London
Warren Ellis has never been anything close to being predictable. The creator of Transmetropolitan and scribe of countless other innovative titles and scribe of mainstream hits, Ellis has always had a penchant for mad ideas that somehow make sense when guided by his pen. While his original ideas ...

+ Great Place to Start - or Great Reference + Don't be a Mindless One! Meditate on this tome!

All Star Superman, Vol. 1 37 reviews Grant Morrison
DC Comics, 2007
Complete, total perfection
+ Man of Steel + Superman at his best
Morrison has written some great comics - New X-Men, Doom Patrol, WE3, Animal Man, JLA, and the list goes on - but this might be the best thing he's ever created. He strips Superman down to the basics, blending Silver Age earnestness with wild, far-ranging science fiction and mythology, and in the ...
