Galatians Through the Centuries (Blackwell Bible Commentaries)
John Riches

Blackwell Publishers, 2008

Paul's letter to the Galatians is one of the most creative and subversive of the New Testament writings, drawing its energy from the fierce controversy which, to his great distress, was disturbing the congregation recently founded by Paul. One of the major sources of inspiration for the Reformation, it was also one of the writings most frequently turned to by the Fathers, as the Church sought to ...

Concise and articulate

+ From the cover:

I bought this commentary because Osborne is an Arminian and I'm doing a presentation on Romans 9 (I'm a student at Moody Bible Institute). His explanation of Romans 9 is extremely well articulated and expressed excellently. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it isn't technical ...

Epistle to the Galatians (New International Greek Testament Commentary)3 reviews
Frederick Fyvie Bruce

Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1982

Another excellent work by F.F. Bruce

+ Great resource for exegetical Greek syntax and background
+ F. F. Bruce knocks it out of the park again!

Excellent commentary. Clear writing. The overall theme and the details are both well expounded throughout. The only small drawback is the occasions when Greek words or phrases are used without definitions, but that should not stop someone from buying this book. Bruce is an excellent author.

Professor Charles Cranfield takes a fresh look at some important questions currently in debate. Several of these essays are previously unpublished. Ben Witherington III

Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1998

A Good Locator of Paul

Ben Witherington makes a strong contribution to the field of scholarship on Galatians. Witherington shows two main strengths in this commentary. First, he makes a strong case for an early dating of Galatians, placing this polemical book solidly before the Jerusalem council. Second, he brings ...

Romans in Full Circle (Westminster Histories of Chris)2 reviews
Mark Reasoner

A unique treatise

+ SLOW

I've read part way through this book at this point, reading it together with a friend. It provides plenty material for discussion. It seems to me to be aimed at a seminary audience, as there are some theological and Greek grammatical terms used, but not fully explained. It's not quick reading, but ...
