Unintentionally hiliarious
Robot Jox is a horrible movie. The plot stinks, the actors and actresses are just horrible, and the animation, even for the time, was just horrible. So what makes this movie so great? The one liners. This movie has some the the best one liners I've heard in a while. To start with the plot, which is corny, the world is destroyed and then war was outlawed, which I don't see how is possible, but ...

The best Quijote production ever
This film does an amazingly good job of balancing the humor (or should I write "humour"?) of the novel with the serious themes. The settings seem very authentic, and the English phrasing of the lines is impeccable. It takes a mature viewer to appreciate the film throughout, as just viewing it for entertainment value (instead of for reflection) will have you tiring of the theme at several spots. ...

Girls Town awesome fun flick and Mamie is an ICON
This film has been shown on local television, cable special or late night flicks and still manages to inspire films today. I saw this movie 5 years ago and managed to let friends and family borrow my vhs copy. The movie is one of a kind with its rock 'n' roll greats on stage such as The Platters, Paul Anka , Mel Torme and the cameo appearance with Ray Anthony . Mamie Van Doren bursts onto the ...

The performances of Lemmon and Dennis make this a must-have comedy!!!
Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis play George and Gwen Kellerman, who are on a trip to New York City from their hometown of Twin Oaks, Ohio so that George can get to a very important business meeting the next morning. They board their flight, and are on their way, but a number of things go wrong for George and Gwen shortly later on. The things they go through are the kinds of things that no ...

The very best of the 80's creature effects movies!
Of all the cheesy 80's movies there are, this is the one you need the most of all. It has everything, including the best creature effects monster of all time. He's not only violent and gross-looking, but he's gotta be the funniest monster you've ever seen as well (wait until you hear the kids trying to teach him to talk). I can't believe, considering all the crappy movies they have on DVD, ...

Rockin' Road Trip Still Rocks
"Rockin' Road Trip" is director William Olsen's fun-filled, fast paced romp through the South with the band "Cherry Suicide." The sound track alone makes this film worth buying! It's a cornucopia of great alternative tracks that hold up surprisingly well. This film reveals the fun and innocence of that period better than most of its 80s peers.

This innovative, new approach to Shakespeare provides young people an entertaining and understandable first encounter with the great works of The Bard. So often, the settings and the language of Shakespeare's plays are confusing and intimidating to today's students, leading to a less then successful initial encounter with the great playwright's work. Enjoying Shakespeare's own words, students too often and too readily say " I pray thee cease ...

The story line was a bit of surprise for Hollywood. A "war" movie w/out blood or combat. Doing a movie about the Old Guard and Arlington during the Vietnam War was pretty brave considering the sympathy displayed for the men involved...You have a PSG (platoon dad)James Caan, torn by demands of duty and a family lost to him because of that duty. (This should reasonate with all of us vets who lost ...

Follow the Stars Home
I love this movie because of Campbell Scott's unrequited love for Kimberly Williams-Paisley's character. Campbell Scott plays a doctor who is totally devoted to his sister-in-law and her child (who was born disabled), yet he doesn't step over the line...he's a true gentleman. Eric Close (who plays Kimberly's husband) also acts well as Campbell's brother and Kimberly's husband. He can't deal ...

One of the better "man searching for missing girl" filma
The Bottom Line: Better than Taken, 8MM, or (dare I even say it?) The Searchers in showing how the obsessive quest to find a lost girl in a seedy milieu corrupts the man trying to find her, Hardcore is perhaps sometimes guilty of exploiting the pornographic material it wallows in, but it's a powerful film that deals in shades of moral ambiguity and is all the better for it; writer-director ...

A true picture of how Louisiana operates.
I should know; I grew up there. I agree with Florida, but I think the film was excellently cast, especially Michael Parks as the corrupt cop. Great accent and acting on his part. It may be a bit dated know, since it was made 15 years ago, but that movie is still the Louisiana I grew up in - and believe me, that is how politics still works there.

Quentin's under-rated flick
After the bravura success of "Pulp Fiction", Quentin Tarentino waited 3 yrs and made a turnaround with this adaptation of Elmore Leonard's "Rum Punch" --and in the process, revived the careers of Pam Grier and Robert Forster who both were awarded with Golden Globe, SAG and Academy Award (Best Supporting Actor) nominations. Though the film is a little over-long, you'll be drawn in by the even ...

Hilarious!
I never watched the program "Spitting Image" before this, but now that I have I will eagerly be searching for more videos! The political parody in this show is brilliant, and the wonderfully goofy caricature puppets had me in stiches. It's very reminisicent of some of the early episodes of "The Muppet Show", with lots of slapstick and quick scene changes. My favorite scenes were "Young Ronnie" ...

This movie really is good! There should of been a sequal to this. The characters were really good. The story is based sort of off the movies Hairspray and Grease. The rock tv show, the african americans, and the rock n roll are the heart of this movie! Your minutes wont be wasted. Short movie though.

Looking for the Happiest Day of Your Life
FORGIVE AND FORGET was originally written by Mark Burt and directed by Aisling Walsh as a TV movie aimed at a straight audience in the UK. That fact is important to remember as it makes this excellent film more credible to the audience that is finding it negative. The world at large remains homophobic as is evident not only in the US with all the measures before the voting public about gay ...

Dear, dear "Phantom" (SPOILERS!)
Like many others, I saw this film in early adolescence, and it's stayed with me all this time. I still enjoy the heck out of it, watch it every couple of years and am sorry when it ends. By age 13, I knew that "sarcasm" existed (thanks, Uncle Arthur of "Bewitched"!) but until I saw POTP I was unaware of this stuff called Black Comedy, and my world was well and truly rocked. "Somebody get a fire ...

This is very loosely adapted from The Taming Of The Screw, but only the characters and a two line plot summary survive. Apart from that, it's quite an original piece of writing from Adele Huffington (surely a pseudoym!), Flaming Readhead Rhonda Fleming looks great in Cine Color, and makes us laugh too. A good-looking guy in a white(ish) hat, former Wild Bill Hickock star Guy Madison slips easily ...
