Engaging Re-Telling of a Classic
I am a big fan of Mark Twain stories, and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's true that not every moment of the book is in the film, but what movie has ever captured a book's every nuance? The acting and casting in this movie is very good, and they really did do a nice job of recreating so many of Twain's vivid scenes. It is one of those movies that I could watch over and over again.

I had heard so much about this movie and love the music that Bob Dylan wrote for it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of my favorite actors were in it, and I've always loved Westerns. But for me personally, the best part was getting to see Bob act and to see the scenes that he wrote the music for.

I should know; I grew up there. I agree with Florida, but I think the film was excellently cast, especially Michael Parks as the corrupt cop. Great accent and acting on his part. It may be a bit dated know, since it was made 15 years ago, but that movie is still the Louisiana I grew up in - and believe me, that is how politics still works there.
