Impulse (1990)4 reviews
Theresa Russell, Jeff Fahey

Warner Home Video, 1998

"I didn't know what I was doing there..."
The alluring Theresa Russell has made a healthy film career out of playing prostitutes (one of her films was actually titled WHORE). In IMPULSE, also starring Jeff Fahey, Russell plays Lottie, an undercover cop who most often poses as---you guessed it---a prostitute. Russell is hot onscreen, so hot the screen melts, even when she plays it straight. As an actress, she has a lock on the ...

Terms of Endearment76 reviews
Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger

Paramount, 1996

A Film of Joy, Tragedy and Hope.
One of the top grossing films of 1983, including sweeping away 5 Oscars, Terms of Endearment, not only is a heart-felt relationship between a sensitive and compassionate daughter (Debra Winger) and her over bearing mother, (Shirley MacLaine) but also what it means to get caught-up in the day to day: and faced with the really tough things in life like seeing one's child go through unnecessary ...

Pleasantville (1998)380 reviews
Tobey Maguire, Reese Witherspoon

New Line Home Video, 1999

Thought Provoking and Underappreciated
I can't believe I missed this classic. Turning the overused and predictable time-travel concept on its head, Pleasantville aims extremely high, posing the mother of all existential questions - would we do it the same way if given a chance to re-write our own history? With the exception of some very leaden sixties revisionism, the answer is ingenious and thought provoking. Living in the ...

Dumb & Dumber369 reviews
Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels

New Line Home Video, 1995

Unrated=Unecessary, but nice extras
The unrated cut of the film is nothing special, but the retrospective interviews with most of the cast are very entertaining (especially Jeff Daniels). The movie is just plain funny which has everything to do with the chemistry of the two stars. They play off each other perfectly and bring stupid, yet endearing characters to the screen. Rated or Unrated, the film belongs in your collection.

Because of Winn Dixie
Jeff Daniels

Tcfhe, 2006

Based on the best-selling book, BECAUSE OF WINN-Dixie is the heartwarming "tail" of a young girl (Annasophia Robb) whose life is changed by a scruffy, fun-loving pooch she names Winn-Dixie. The special bond between them works magic on her reserved dad (Jeff Daniels) and the eccentric townspeople they meet during one unforgettable summer.

RAGTIME uncut on DVD
I can't understand why so many reviewers are claiming that the RAGTIME disc contains a cut version of this film, missing 40 minutes of footage. I picked up a copy recently, and it's definitely uncut, running exactly 155 minutes

Glenn Close, Jeff Daniels

Walt Disney Home Video, 1997

Complements the 1961 original classic
I don't agree with those reviewers who write that this version should not have been made. Of course the 1961 Disney animated version was an alltime classic, but this version compliments it rather than competes with it. If anybody could fill the role of Cruella De Vil coming from animation to life, it is Glenn Close. If you watch this version and then the 1961 animated version you would think ...

Race for the Double Helix16 reviews
Tim Pigott-Smith, Jeff Goldblum

Edde Entertainment, 1994

My VHS copy gets a grade of "F"
As a biology teacher, I bought a used copy of this marvelous film although I spent less than $50. However, the quality of the tape is so poor that students had a difficult time understanding the conversations. And, as a teacher, to spend a larger amount of my own money is out of the question. How unfortunate that the idea of use in the classroom made this unavailable for interested persons as ...

Marie9 reviews
Sissy Spacek, Jeff Daniels

Mgm/Turner Movie Classics, 1991

one of the very best movies ever made
A woman leaves her abusive husband, gets a college education, raises three children on her own and stands alone against the collective might of the Tennessee state government. And wins! This movie, filmed in true widescreen, is a masterpiece. The fact that it is based on a true story makes it even more incredible. The performances are all superb, including a movie-stealing performance by ...

Best Civil War Movie Ever!
The movie was so enthralling that I had to buy and read the book "Killer Angels" that it is based on. The movie was 4 wonderful hours itself, and had so many special features that gave me a couple more hours to enjoy. I watched it first from the rental store, but after seeing it, I had to own it. Tom Berenger and Jeff Daniels were fantastic in their roles. I have watched it three times alone ...

Who's Who?
This is a very entertaining movie with fun characters and a good storyline. Alex and Janine are similar to the characters played by Mary-Kate and Ashley in multiple movies. One is a wall flower and day dreamer, while the other is outgoing and not afraid to sya what's on her mind. It is interesting to watch the two adusting to each other's lifestyles. I also discovered that Justin Timberlake ...

James Bowers, Alex Kingston

Starz / Anchor Bay, 1997

Spicy Romp
Entertaining and fun with the spice of life. Moll Flanders adventures are captured with wonderful camera work, excellent casting and non-stop adventure. A great addition to "Tipping The Velvet" and "Finger Smith".

The Crossing74 reviews
Jeff Daniels, Roger Rees

A & E Home Video, 2000

Beautifully done in all respects
This movie was well done on every level. Good script, believable acting, excellent editing, great direction. I really liked the way Jeff Daniels portrayed Washington -- strong, understated and always believable. This movie works on every level and absolutely makes you feel like you're "there". When a historical drama is able to make you feel transported back through time, it has succeeded.

Redwood Curtain4 reviews
Jeff Daniels, Lea Salonga

Republic Pictures, 1997

Fine ensemble performance
A wonderful movie with fine performances by a great ensemble cast. The whole film, from start to finish is excellent. Lithgow's performance as an adoptive father striving to encourage his adopted daughter's, Salonga, musical career will touch a lot of buttons. Her longing to know her birth family is topical as well as intensely personal, a good blend. The adoptive mother flits in and out; ...

An escaped convict and a buried treasure
This is a good movie! When I saw the couple held hostage by the convicts I had the urge to change into a superheroine. Even Kim Possible can put those guys in handcuffs, and take them to jail.Rufus can, bite their nose,so can Ron,Kim's too much of a lady.
