Eddie Robinson at his best
Naturally the entire movie is terrific and John Huston was one heck of a director. But the outstanding performance in the movie is Edward G Robinson. Here he is at his malevolent, gangster best. I would love to know if his performance was part Huston or all Robinson because it's masterful. As gangster on the run Johnny Rocco ( a typical 30's and 40's movie mobster name), Robinson portrays him as ...

Just to put some honesty on This Page
The outrageous prices that are being asked for this film should tell you something about it's quality. The fact that the manufacturer has discontinued it should say more. As a former member of this belittled and demised organization i can attest to it's portrayal as totally fact based. There is plenty of literature available on the infamous Co-intelpro operations that will back up this ...

"With or without?" doesn't matter, Lena nails it!
Want neo-noir? The real deal? Look no further. From the moment Lena Olin delivers the most potent two-word warning; "Keep lookin'," I've ever heard in film, to the bizarre and beautiful fade-out at the desolate Holiday Dinner, you're emersed in a dark, deadly, moral wasteland, inhabited by some of the most finely drawn feral characters you'll ever run into on the far side of the Styx. Olin ...

One of the Best Movies
This is my favorite movie of all time!! My grandmother saw this movie in the theater back in time and she was able to get a copy of it and play it for me when I was 7 years old(I'm 23) and it has been my favorite since then. It is a great story and the whole family will love it.

A Great and Relevant Film About the Heroes of the Holocaust
I just saw this film last night and I was overwhelmed. Hanna was an extremely strong and brave woman. Her story and the story of her fellow paratroopers will touch your heart. It really shows how dedicated the early Jewish settlers of Palestine really where. I will definitely watch this one again and again.

Martin Scorcese's Cape Fear is Force Majeure
I disagree with the editors that the remake, which is arguably superior in every way to the original, is not even worth a look. No disrespect intended to Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum who were both great actors who delivered solid performances in the original, but I prefer the 1991 version. For her role as Danielle Bowden, Lewis was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. ...

Haven't seen the movie
I'm just rating it because I think the chick on the cover is hot. She was also in The Further Adventures of Tennesee Buck, where she gets completely naked and receives an awesome oil rub-down. I did a white-wash salute to that flick, and I'm guessing I will do the same by the end of this one, too.

Hard to find wilderness slasher!
from the director of THE FUGITIVE and the writer of the original ALIEN, This slasher/action movie stars Rachel Ward(Night school), Ardian ZMed(Grease 2; Bacholer Party), and Daryll Hannah(before she became a star) and it ROCKS! This one is one of my favorite slasher movies and it is very creepy! A group of teens go camping in the woods and the forest has a history. The story is a camfire tale ...

A great movie for any horror fan
Trilogy of Terror 2 is a great flick. In "The Graveyard Rats", a money hungry wife, Laura, and her cousin, Ben, decide to kill Laura's wealthy husband. After a while, they go to a bar and a man named Mr. Stubbs runs into Laura. Mr. Stubbs explains to Laura that he'll be burying her husband and he'll be buried in the old south yard. Mr. Stubbs said he wouldn't advise that because of the rats. He ...

Lamour book turns out to be a good movie
As a longtime reader of Louis Lamour I was interested in how this book would turn out as a movie. This is a well told story with believable actors helping to tell the tale. Tom Selleck and Sam Eliot fit the bill. Katherine Ross and Ben Johnson add their sides to the story. Sometimes a book just doesn't make a good movie but this is plesantly the exceptiion. Get yourself some popcorn and ...

"It's Not Red, It's f@^*n Maroon!" -- Frank McRae
Used Cars is one of those comedies that keep people laughing forever. Directed by Robert Zemeckis and has a notable cast with Kurt Russell, Jack Warden, Michael McKean, Gerrit Graham, Frank McRae, and older Al Lewis. The humor is satirical, physical, and black. The humor is very similar John Landis' comedies. The plot is about a failing used car lot with a devious manager Rudy(Russell), ...

Jerry's last great comedy film
This movie has been making me laugh since I first saw it on TV in the mid 1970s. Jerry and his band of 4-F rejects put together a commando squad. They go behind enemy lines in an attempt to replace a German Field Marshal in this wild WWII romp. There are so many hysterical gags, it's impossible to single out one or two for review. Cameos by Joe Besser, Paul Winchell, and George Takei. Lots more ...

Dark and lovely. A+
Now for those who still have yet to see this movie, it has lots of grown up material. So if you aren't old enough to see naked ladies and suggestive material, please skip this. To many, it would be a disturbing film. In ways, it even disturbed me. But some of the dialogue really struck home and made a lot of sense. Too much sense. I usually don't get the character names down pact, and this ...

Vintage Chicago
In this movie, Rod Steiger creates the definitive Al Capone. All other movie Capones pale in comparison. Steiger and Capone were made for each other. Both realize their essential natures in each other. Steiger may not have captured the outward fact of Chicago's most notorious gangster. I have read complaints by Capone's relatives who said Capone was in reality soft-spoken and mild-mannered, ...

Glamour and Corn ...
... the same blend as in a Rossini or Mozart opera or in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night. Though the corn seems cornier with age, the glamour is unfaded. Swing was America's finest-ever pop music, swing dance and swing-era clothes were truly glamourous, and the cinematography of this war-time morale booster was silky smooth. The story line -- band leader Harry James gets drafted and the whole band ...
