Seperate But Equal
Separate But Equal This should be required viewing for all introductory Political Science, Government or US history students. The Brown decision comes to life on screen, including the thoughts and postions of justices reluctant to overturn the Plessy desicion. Justices Frankfurter's and Reed's comments provided provacative fuel for intellectual debate in today's race charged society.

Great Movie, how'd I forget?
I was scanning the channels one night and "White Men Can't Jump" was on FMC. So I watched it and forgot how good of a movie it was. After it was over I decided this is one for the kids to watch since they never got the chance. Ordered it on Amazon and now it's included in Daves Playlist. Awesome!

A classic!
An absolute classic! I quote more one-liners from this film than I even realize! BJD II was stink-o, so stick with the original and you'll have hours and hours of laughs about the follies of thirtysomething singlehood.

This Movie Is Charming
This is a good movie. A low budget movie, it is better than 95% of the big budget movies. It succeeds perhaps because it is the personal real-life story of the movie's writer/director/co-producer Sandy Wilson...or maybe it is because they had Margaret Langrick playing the part of Sandy Wilcox, a 12 year old girl going on 26...but whatever the reason, My American Cousin charms us. Locals and ...

Don't make em like this one anymore
I'm of the mind to think that the 70s in American cinema is its golden age. Serpico is an indispensable product of that period, and if you haven't seen this yet, you won't get a chance to find out why Al Pacino is one of our most interesting actors. When the movie makes you want to read the book immediately after viewing, you know you've come across something special.

Wonderful!
A true delight. This film has a rare combination of charm, biting satire and critical intelligence. Chayefsky's screenplay was outstanding. The performances were all first rate.

Some basis in fact
I don't know if I can add much insight to the already over 200 reviews here, but I did want to make one comment about the brainwashing procedure--the most important and sinister idea in the whole movie--and without which there wouldn't have been a film. It turns out that there was at least some small basis in fact for this. The Manchurian Candidate came out in 1962 (not sure of the exact ...

This is not a movie about Autism
This is a about a child disturbed by the death of her father and who is told that she should not cry about it and also that her father is in the moon, a fantasy created in the mind of the child trying to thereafter trying to reach him there. One reviewer thought it was about autism, which it was not. It seems that autism has become a generalization for anything people don't understand. The ...

Great, Disturbing Film
This is a great, disturbing film about a former convict/rodeo rider (Mickey Rourke) who falls in love with a beautiful, emotionally disturbed young woman (Lori Singer) who, because she can't shake her life of crime, brings down the man who loves her. Very downbeat film with some great moments
