Shrek (Special Edition)1195 reviews
Guillaume Aretos (II), Jacquie Barnbrook

Dreamworks Video, 2001

Fantastically Clever. Shrek won the whole family
The original Shrek was a CG classic or masterpiece. It's truly a work of art in the computer graphics field. The detail in the CGI was AMAZING for its time and it still manages to impress me today. Other animated films like "Finding Nemo" and "Monsters Inc" compare to the beautiful composure, however Shrek is dominantly more humourous. The movie just has the word clever written all over it. ...

The World According to Garp57 reviews
Nathan Babcock, Warren Berlinger

Warner Home Video, 1998

In the top 10
This movie is one of my top 10 favorites. If you have ever read any of John Irving's books then you will love this film. Although it doesn't compare to the book it is a great film full of lust, comedy, tragedy, well-developed characters, and great acting. It portrays sex in a very real light.

Redwood Curtain4 reviews
Jeff Daniels, Lea Salonga

Hallmark, 1999

Fine ensemble performance
A wonderful movie with fine performances by a great ensemble cast. The whole film, from start to finish is excellent. Lithgow's performance as an adoptive father striving to encourage his adopted daughter's, Salonga, musical career will touch a lot of buttons. Her longing to know her birth family is topical as well as intensely personal, a good blend. The adoptive mother flits in and out; ...

Don Quixote (2000)16 reviews
John Lithgow, Bob Hoskins

Turner Home Ent, 2001

Why isn't there a DVD, Region 1 version of this movie??
I bought this movie on VHS a few years back, and was hoping that it would eventually be released on DVD. I was in Spain, and saw the DVD version there. The DVD version has scenes that are not on the VHS version and not to mention the option of watching the movie in Spanish!! I really would like to buy the DVD version of this movie that can be played in North America! This movie is very faithful ...

Terms of Endearment76 reviews
Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger

Paramount, 1996

A Film of Joy, Tragedy and Hope.
One of the top grossing films of 1983, including sweeping away 5 Oscars, Terms of Endearment, not only is a heart-felt relationship between a sensitive and compassionate daughter (Debra Winger) and her over bearing mother, (Shirley MacLaine) but also what it means to get caught-up in the day to day: and faced with the really tough things in life like seeing one's child go through unnecessary ...

Life's Greatest Miracle: A Spectacular New Look at the Journey We All Travel--From Conception to Birth7 reviews
Julia Cort, John Lithgow

Pbs Home Video, 2002

Breathtaking!
I am an expecting father, and as such, in the company of my wife we've been reading and learning about babies and pregnancy. I confess I was in awe with the images from this PBS video. There is not another word to describe the whole process from conception to birth but a miracle! The video in a very easy-to-follow way describes in considerable detail all the stages with the support of ...

Baby Girl Scott3 reviews
John Lithgow, Mary Beth Hurt

Lions Gate/Live Home Video, 1993

I hate this movie
I think this movie is great, in that it addresses a very serious issue affecting our medicalized society. THe right to die is just as much an issue as the right to live. Many people in the medical profession feel as though it is their job to become heroes at the cost of harm or ethics. I say that i hate this movie because it presents such a strong depiction of this type of moral rape that my ...

American Cinema - 100 Years of Filmmaking2 reviews
John Lithgow, Joe Morton

20th Century Fox, 1995

An excellent overview of the history of American film
If you weren't lucky enough to have caught this series on PBS or the BBC, you truly weren't lucky. This is a terrific documentary on the history of American film with wonderful interviews and an especially good collection of exemplary scenes running the gamut of genres. Especially interesting (at least to my mind) are the episodes on film noir and the film school generation (i.e. Coppola, ...

Rugrats
Any Rugrats lover is sure to love these movies! I rented them before because I think the show is just too cute and knew the kids would enjoy it. To my surprise, even my husband has become a fan of the Rugrats after viewing the first movie where little Dill arrives. We also enjoyed their trip to Paris! and we reciently bought Rugrats Go Wild! and are now adding the first movie and the trip to ...

The Pelican Brief54 reviews
Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington

Warner Home Video, 2000

The Pelican Brief
This is a movie full of intrigue and suspense. Denzel Washington turns in one of his best performances as Gray Grantham. Julia Roberts is equally as exciting as Darby Shaw a Tulane law student. Together they work to expose a criminal conspiracy that involves many high officials that include the White House. When attempts are made on their lives, it becomes a race to see if they can solve the ...

Ricochet16 reviews
Denzel Washington, John Lithgow

Hbo Home Video, 1993

Surprisingly Entertaining
Couldn't believe that this was the same John Lithgow who starred in "Third Rock From the Sun", an hilarious comedy that ran for a few years on NBC. John plays the ultimate bad guy seeking twisted revenge for being stopped in his tracks by Denzel's character. Wasn't expecting much, but this movie was surprisingly entertaining. Yes, it was a little violent, and some parts were a tad ...

Rugrats in Paris - The Movie48 reviews
Joe Alaskey, Michael Bell

Paramount, 2001

An 8-year-old's review
Of course, I think this movie is super! The reason I rated it 5 stars is because of the plot. Actually, there were a few plots, like the wedding, giant robots, broken hearts, and lying. That is everything I love. Well, okay, maybe the fact that it's not scary is distressing, because I love horror. But, all in all, it was a great film. I watch it a lot with my mom. The villain, Cocoa, was super. ...
