Bogus Reviews on a Disc Not Yet Released But...
I am in the Sleeping Beauty camp. This is the first film I remember seeing in a movie theater in 1959, I was all of three years-old but the imagery has remained with me and this is my favorite of all the "Fairy Tales" Walt put out. I can't wait for the Blu-ray release (and this coming from a former HD DVD fan.) But you go with the flow with high def. Anyone who gets a prescreen copy let ...

My First Mister57 reviews
Rutanya Alda, Natasha Braisewell

Paramount, 2002

I just watched this twice. I will watch it again!
I always like Leelee Sobieiski. In this she was perfection. Albert Brooks is always okay but I loved him in this. Carol Kane, Mary Kay Place, Michael McKean and John Goodman were the throw away characters. They all are wonderful in their parts but the movie is really alive when Leelee and Albert are on screen together. Great humour, great pathos, great sexual tension but no sex. What is it about? ...

The Pickwick Papers3 reviews
James Donald, Nigel Patrick

Superb production of Dickens' comic masterpiece, but
If you have read Dickens' The Posthumus Papers of the Pickwick Club, you wonder how they could possibly make a movie of that sprawling, episodic masterpiece. This 1952 British film does an excellent job of hitting the highlights including Mr. Pickwick finding out he's in a strange lady's bed, Mr. Tupman's love affairs, Mr. Winkle's duel, Mr. Jingle's tricks, and the great trial and jailing ...

How the Toys Saved Christmas1 review
Mary Tyler Moore, Tony Randall

Walt Disney Video, 2001

could be a classic someday.
I took this video out of my local library, not expecting much. I took a peek at it while the kids were watching, and was pleasantly surprised. It is very well done, with good animation, a clever story line, and a good message.

Orfeu (Sub)14 reviews
Toni Garrido, Patrícia França

New Yorker Video, 2002

Not as good as the original but very close...
This was a pretty well done film. Although it is not as good as the original (1959's "Orfeu Negro") it comes pretty close. I would recommend renting both this and the original to compare the two first. This version definitely appeals to a younger crowd than the older version, but it was still produced in a very tasteful, well crafted way. Also, the soundtrack to this film was quite impressive, so ...
