Turn of the Screw [VHS]2 reviews
Patsy Kensit

Lions Gate/Live Home Video, 1993

The best adaption of Turn of the Screw
Although updated to the 1960s, this 1992 film version of the classic Henry James ghost story is close to the book. Furthermore, this adaption of the Turn of the Screw does an excellent job at conveying James' ambiguity over when the ghosts are real or imagined. I put this version as one of my favorite movies.

Silas Marner [VHS]17 reviews
Ben Kingsley, Jenny Agutter

20th Century Fox, 1998

Silas Marner
I read this book for the first time a couple of years ago. I didn't really think that all of the pertinent information in the book could be included in a 90 minute movie...but I can think of nothing left out. And the fact that it stays true to the book was important to me, also. Very touching, very believable acting. Interesting and informative George Eliot biography bonus feature is ...

Harrison Ford, Lesley-Anne Down

Dream Man [VHS]2 reviews
Patsy Kensit, Bruce Greenwood

Lions Gate/Republic Ent., 1995

Well Worth Watching
I was skeptical about McCarthy playing a bad guy, but he was surprisingly fantastic! The greatest discovery of this film is Bruce Greenwood, who is terrific as a police detective; flirty and shallow pursuing the female detective, then focused on the crime and her attraction to the suspect, and in a frightening confrontation with the killer, terrifically vulnerable (what a mess makeup made of his ...

Twenty One [VHS]2 reviews
Patsy Kensit, Jack Shepherd

Columbia/Tri-Star, 1992

Indulgent Fun
I love this movie and I can't help it. I came of age at the same time as the movie's heroine, Katie, and found a lot to which I could relate, minus the married lover and the junkie boyfriend. The story is told in flashbacks, and follows the life and loves of 21-year Katie, a sassy and free-spirited, if not very sensible, young woman living in London. Katie doesn't make the greatest of ...

Angels & Insects [VHS]65 reviews
Mark Rylance, Kristin Scott Thomas

Evergreen Ent, 1997

Can you spell "objective correlative.."
I guess plenty of reviewers have outlined the story, and so far the few I have read have not given away the dramatic secret near the end (though several claim that it becomes obvious early on - well, I guess I'm just slow or something..) Of course, after that one can see much more meaning in many of the scenes earlier in the movie. I endorse all those who have found it a masterful, dark, ...

Chorus of Disapproval [VHS]1 review
Jeremy Irons, Anthony Hopkins

South Gate Entertainment, 1990

Of interest to Irons and Hopkins fans
I purchased this video because I am a devoted fan of both Jeremy Irons and Anthony Hopkins. It was interesting to see them give a try at comedy and it is testimony to the acting skills of both that they managed to hold my interest in spite of a rather dull plot. It was amusing to see both actors at a much earlier stage in their careers (Jeremy Irons looks so young and boyish), but, ...

amazing, brilliant, fantastic, enigmatic, addictive

Lethal Weapon Trio (3pc) [VHS]50 reviews
Mel Gibson, Danny Glover

Warner Home Video, 1993

One of the top Male Action Series
What more can be said. The Lethal Weapon series is one of the best Male action guy movies ever made. The fight scene at the end of original Lethal Weapon IMHO is one of thee best ever! Then the people in the past future movies go back to the first (what happened to his girlfriend), and more. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover should of stayed with the Lethal Weapon series, however with DVD ...

Kleptomania [VHS]2 reviews
Amy Irving, Patsy Kensit

Warner Home Video, 1995

You Need A Big "Suspension Of Disbelief " To Watch This Movie!
This movie sadly flounders without a believable script or storyline. Somehow we are supposed to believe that Amy Irving who plays a rich, spoiled , bulemic, vodka swilling Socialite who likes to masturbate at dinner parties would be able to have a friendship with a street wise homeless thief played by Patsy Kensit. For 1 1/2 hours we see Amy's Character slumming with Patsy Kensit in order to get ...

Speedway Junky [VHS]44 reviews
Jesse Bradford, Jordan Brower

Wolfe Video, 2002

A street-smart love story with a hot edge
"Speedway Junky" is a street-smart love story with a gritty, queer edge. Executive Producer Gus Van Sant (My Own Private Idaho, Tarnation, Good Will Hunting, Elephant...) hands out another brilliant one here. "Speedway Junky" is about a young tough guy, Johnny (Jesse Bradford), who runs away toward North Carolina in hopes of becoming a race car driver. He stops short in Las Vegas when he ...
