The Time Guardian [VHS]2 reviews
Tom Burlinson, Nikki Coghill

surprisingly fun
I'll be honest, I'm a fan of B-movies, especially unknown sci-fi from the 80s, which this is. For what it is, I actually really liked this. The story is fairly original, though like so many bad sci-fi before it, it rips off most successful sci-fi films. Carrie Fisher stars in this film, and she seems to STILL be playing princess leia, as her character is pretty much the same. If you like ...

Honeymoon in Vegas [VHS]26 reviews
James Caan, Nicolas Cage

Columbia Pictures, 2000

"Do You Find Chief Orman Attractive?"
I thought this movie was really funny and Peter Boyle's scene is side hurting funny. Sarah Jessica's body is smokin' in this film too!

Son of The Morning Star [VHS]50 reviews
Gary Cole, Rosanna Arquette

Republic Pictures, 1998

Very Over Due on DVD or Blue Ray
Hokahay! Not much I can add to what has already been stated about this movie. One of the very best and I still watch it converted. Still not the quality a studio would send out on DVD / Blue Ray hopefully. I agree with several that this is way over due to be in DVD form. Sadly I have been waiting since 2004. Get with it Republic or the Gods that decide which is on dvd form. Time to move it and ...

Certain Fury [VHS]2 reviews
Tatum O'Neal, Irene Cara

Starmaker Entertainment, 1992

Irene and Tatum pair well as first adversaries then friends.
The first film that Irene did after "Fame", being a fan of both stars, you will enjoy this film. Despite holes in the plot, the two stars give good performances. Irene as rich daddy's girl looking for attention and Tatum as poor girl looking to survive they make you believe in both of their struggles.

Safe (1995) [VHS]62 reviews
Julianne Moore, Peter Friedman

Sony Pictures, 2000

environMENTAL ILLNESS...
Having lived my early childhood through the loopy 1970s, I suddenly found myself having to be a teenager in the stultifyingly sterile '80s! SAFE captures this dull, self-obsessed decade perfectly. Carol White (Julianne Moore from Hannibal) is a typically rich, near-catatonic house-spouse with a seemingly pristine existence. Carol has everything that we were led to believe is vitally important for ...

Heartbreak Ridge [VHS]91 reviews
Clint Eastwood, Ramón Franco

Warner Home Video, 1992

As real as it gets
This movie garnered alot of controversy in 1986 when it was released in the movies. Alot of Marines felt it was far-fetched, and not the way Marines act. If this were true then they shouldn't show any movies about the Marine Corps, and that in order to know, and apprecieate what the Marines are all about enlist, and go through boot camp. I know that the movie was all too real to me. I feel that ...

Nun's Story (1959) [VHS]83 reviews
Audrey Hepburn, Peter Finch

Warner Home Video, 1998

Everyone's Story
This movie is about a nun who tries very hard to make her vocation work. She was a better Religious than many of the so-called "living Rules" around her because she did more soul-searching. The story is a tragedy insofar as she was never able to reconcile her inability to be perfect with the many graces she was receiving by simply being, a lesson every Religious must learn in order to ...

The Legend of Billie Jean [VHS]35 reviews
Helen Slater, Keith Gordon

Fair is calling this movie great!
I just watched this movie again for the 100th time and continue to think its one of the best movies of the 80's. It really captures the feeling of life in the 80's and what it feels like to be a smart teenager who gets treated unfairly. The soundtrack is also awesome- Billy Idol, Wendy O. Williams and Pat Benetar. I read that Benetar loves to rip this movie up in concert before singing the theme. ...

Texas Across the River [VHS]19 reviews
Dean Martin, Alain Delon

Universal Studios, 1993

Hilarious
Ever since I saw this movie as a kid I enjoyed the humor in it. My wife bought it for me again and I watched it for the first time in years recently and still to this day the humor is there. Dean Martin, and his indian companion, along with the commanche indians especially the chief's son makes the movie completely hilarious with the antics that occur. Great movie to purchase and see if you like ...

92 In the Shade [VHS]5 reviews
Peter Fonda, Warren Oates

Fox Home Entertainment, 1986

Key Character Study
I caught this film on Cable last week. I usually don't remember whole scenes of dialog on one viewing, But this one really stays with you! Quirky plot, strange characters, gorgeous location. Excellent acting. And fishing. If you like these things, and you like low-key indie cinema, your probably going to like this movie a whole lot.

Goldrush: A Real Life Alaskan Adventure [VHS]4 reviews
Alyssa Milano, Bruce Campbell

Walt Disney Video, 2001

Great movie for girls
I watched and taped this when it was on TV in 1997 and loved it. I couldn't wait for it to come out on video so I could buy it. It's a story about a young woman (Alyssa Milano) who gets Gold Rush Fever in the early 1900's and makes up her mind about going from her very nice city life to the harsh wilderness of Alaska to make her fortune in gold. After having to prove herself worthy of joining a ...

Ocean's 11 [VHS]85 reviews
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin

Warner Home Video, 2002

A delightful time-travel experience
I watched the original Ocean's Eleven flick today, with commentary by Frank Sinatra Jr. in the background. That was an unexpectedly entertaining experience. Frank Jr. has such a recall of Las Vegas in 1959, when the movie was shot. And he identified most of the character actors as to how they got into the movie. He lamented the lack of recognition awarded to the screenplay. Now that I'm ...

Last Seduction [VHS]60 reviews
Linda Fiorentino, Bill Pullman

Polygram Video, 1996

Brilliant Movie, Horrible Transfer
Okay, I'm biased to this movie because I took a seminar from the director and consider this one of the best neo-noir movies ever made. I'm writing this review to comment on the DVD quality. For some reason, the DVD aspect ratio is 1:33, your standard pan and scan, but I know the widescreen version exists because John Dahl showed it to us at the seminar. This movie was shot in 1:85 and should ...

Never So Few [VHS]23 reviews
Frank Sinatra, Gina Lollobrigida

MGM (Warner), 1998

NEVER SO FEW
ONE OF FRANK SINATRA'S BEST WAR MOVIE'S, IT GAVE STEVE McQUEEN HIS FIRST BIG BREAK AS A LEAD IN A MOVIE, SHARING THE BILL WITH SEVERAL OTHERS INCLUDING PETER LAWFORD. IT WAS A BREATHOUGH ROLE FOR HIM, AND A THOUGHLY ENJOYABLE MOVIE FOR ONE AND ALL.

Gardens of Stone [VHS]30 reviews
James Caan, Anjelica Huston

Sony Pictures, 1999

Spot On...
The story line was a bit of surprise for Hollywood. A "war" movie w/out blood or combat. Doing a movie about the Old Guard and Arlington during the Vietnam War was pretty brave considering the sympathy displayed for the men involved...You have a PSG (platoon dad)James Caan, torn by demands of duty and a family lost to him because of that duty. (This should reasonate with all of us vets who lost ...

The Unholy [VHS]15 reviews
Ruben Rabasa, Nicole Fortier

Vestron Pictures, 1998

Desiderius--the demon no priest can resist
I love this movie!! Although the New Orleans dialect is a little "cheesy", The Unholy is a delightful B-horror movie. Ben Cross does a wonderful job in his portrayal of Fr. John Michael, but I must say my favorite character is Teresa, the caretaker who loves to be in Father's business. If you haven't seen this one, I am sure that you will enjoy it. I watch this movie quite regularly.

Misfits of Science [VHS]12 reviews
Dean Paul Martin, Kevin Peter Hall

Universal Studios, 1998

Were you alive in the 80's?!? Desprately waiting for DVDs??
This show had it all...adventure, excitement, humor, passion, and love. Every month I do a search on all websites to find out if it has been released on DVD, either the very first episode which is lovingly offered here for in VHS form for us Misfit o'Si fans who have watched our old TV video copies till they've either been destroyed by over watching or eaten up by the video machine, or even ...
