Wish I could give it 6 stars-not just another war movie
This is by far one of the most historically accurate and well done dramas about WWII. Stephen Ambrose is a great writer. The comraderie of the men and the personal struggles they faced was very engaging. You can't wait until the next episode. Damien Lewis's protrayal of Mack Winters is phenomenal. You really like him, sympathize with him, root for him and admire him all at the same time. I love ...

Gets RESULTS! Offers everything it promises!
I bought this set back in 1999, reluctantly. I had never found a good exercise video and was getting the four pack hoping that at least ONE would be good. Well, it's 2006 and I am still doing Tae Bo. I have expanded my collection of videos (and DVDs now) but I still love the originals! Billy is an extremely motivational instructor, and you really feel the vibe of the people in the videos. It ...

Very Exciting, Though It Pales To "Raiders".
I thoroughly enjoyed "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom." I would highly recommend it. Please keep this in mind, because I'm about to start telling its shortcomings. None of these shortcomings diminish the five stars it earned. This movie does pale compared to "Raiders Of The Lost Ark." Part of it is, as is often the case with sequels, it follows the formula of the first movie. The ...

Always something new
If you enjoy classic English literature, this is the way to go. After the first time you watch the series, take your time to watch it again, and notice amazing details here and there, thanks to Austen's genius. The same happens with Shakespeare in Love, where tiny details of the author pop up as the spectator is not distracted by the main theme. Enjoy! P&P is still an amazing production 12 ...

STARTING TO WORRY
I have used this series for a few years now and have had great success with it. Not just the old school compilation of talking heads, but an engaging, well-paced documentary. However, as others have said, I am getting concerned about its availability in the future when VHS players go the way of the 8-track. Anyone out there know of plans to put this on DVD?

A true masterpiece, regardless of historical reservations!
Regardless of historical reservations and allegations of bias from both North and South, I regard this work of Ken Burns as a true masterpiece. I bought my first set on VHS several years ago at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and played it through a dozen or more times. I went to the expense of having this set transferred to new tapes for my VHS player here in England. Having heard in 2002 that it was ...

A gift from above that transformed my life
Joseph Campbell was an amazing man full of insight and understanding of the religions of the world and how they all are the same metaphorically, and they all share common themes since the dawn of time. I will share some of his perceptions and thoughts that are reoccurring throughout this 6-hour DVD. Every chapter is spellbinding, delightful and distinctive. There is a wealth of information here ...

Overrated, but overall, still great
The elements in the Star Wars films are not exactly original. Close to all the ideas are borrowed from different genres spanning from Japanese Samurai films, old Sci-Fi films/serials, Westerns, etc. Then there is the simplistic moral system of the Jedi. There really isn't much genius there. The genius comes from Lucas' knack for innovation of these cliche elements and innovation in general. ...

The Real STAR WARS
Unlike the new Star Wars movies (from the older stories)these original movies, before they were 'remastered', had true 'spirit' or 'heart' or whatever - they were REAL. The 'special effects' (damn good for that time, if u care) weren't what made the movies such awesome adventures. It was a combination of things - a yearning to live the impeccable warrior life of a Jedi, to battle a terrible evil ...

Exceptional Monk
Great series of DVDs! I love detective series and this one is excellent. Along with the wonderful detective stories it takes place in medieval times several years after the Crusades. Brother Cadfael, pronounced Cadfile, is played by a superb actor, Sir Derek Jacobi. Some may know him from the series "I, Claudius", or the movie "Dead Again" or any number of other roles. Cadfael is a monk in an ...

North and South Book 1 and 2
I have to say I loved the whole story, I saw Book 1 and Book 2 again recently. The story between the Hazards and the Mains was wonderful. From the friendship of George Hazard and Orrey Main to the oddness and excentricities of Virgilia Hazard as well and the scheming and lack of scruples of Ashton Main)Hontoon. I think it is a wonderful story to be enjoyed by all, keep in mind there are some ...
