Shattered Image [VHS]3 reviews
Jack Scalia, Bo Derek

Lions Gate, 1995

very intriguing movie of murder and blackmail
Made for telly film, so judge it by those standards, and under those conditions, you have a nifty neo-noir film. Former model Helen really detests DH, Ben, only Ben has big stacks of money, and divorce would mean losing the charge cards and fancy life style she adores. Wanting her cake and eat it, too, she and her brother-in-law, arrange to have him kidnapped, so they can get the money - 5 ...

Image of the Beast [VHS]6 reviews
Thom Rachford, Susan Plumb

Russ Doughten Films, 1987

A real dissertation of I.O.T.B.
First of all let me start by saying that IOTB was so ahead of it's time. Russ Doughton and Donald Thompson out did themselves on this one. The opening sequence was the most powerful to me. It focuses on a UPC bar Code on the back of some grocery product. This shot was key because the producers were fortelling what was to come. You have to remember that when this film was produced (1981) bar ...

Mirror Images (Unrated)2 reviews

Academy Entertainment, 1991

Sexy psychological drama
One of director Hippolyte's better direct-to-video (or is it Cinemax After Dark?) features, concerning a sexy woman (Delia Shepperd) and her innocent twin. The twin decides to take a walk on the wild side, which leads to you-know-what. Decent performances and an attractive cast make this film rather enjoyable. Very hot sex scene with Shepperd and Nels Van Patten is an added bonus.

Split Image
I was lucky enough to have been doing the catering to the crew that was building Homeland from the "World of Animals" location off Lawson Road off Hwy 80. The Art Director Wolf Kruger (who also designed the Popeye Set and Ted Kotcheff also directed Popeye) was such a quite and nice man. Not knowing who he was, I use to make him talk to me when I was serving lunch to the crew before the Movie ...

Twilight Zone Collector's Edition (Night of the Meek, Mirror Image, The Grave and The Masks)1 review

CBS Video Library, 1988

Four great episodes of the series
In "Night of the Meek" the versatile Art Carney plays Henry Corwin, a lonely, kindly old man with a fondness for drink that is also a department store Santa Claus. When he shows up drunk, the storeowner fires him and he leaves, wishing that he could truly give gifts to the people that really need them. After hearing what sounds like sleigh bells, Henry trips over a sack of empty cans that is ...

American Photography - A Century of Images [VHS]3 reviews
Harris Yulin

Pbs Home Video, 1999

"A Century of Images" gets to the heart of America's photographic obsessions
The folks at PBS deserve the gratitude of photography teachers and students everywhere. Taking on subject matter as impossibly broad as photography in 20th Century America? This documentary covers-- sometimes comprehensively, sometimes briefly-- virtually every important topic germane to the field of study, from Pictorialism to Straight Photography, from fashion to the scientific. Along the way, ...

Bronze Screen: 100 Years of Latino Image [VHS]4 reviews
Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Quinn

Questar, 2003

Estupendo! Maravilloso! Bravo!
A lot of people don't know that film has been around for a century and they REALLY don't know that Latinos have been depicted in them since the beginning. Defeating notions that Latinos have only been in Hollywood since they were about to become the largest minority group, this documentary is a brilliant investigation of both Latinos and Hollywood. This is strong cultural studies in which the ...

Image of an Assassination: Zapruder Film [VHS]43 reviews
Peter Dean, James 'Ike' Altgens

Mpi Home Video, 1998

just a minor correction
Mrs. Kennedy was not trying to help the Secret Service Agent when she crawled out onto the trunk. She was trying to recover part of her husband's skull that had blown back onto the trunk. Which by the way indicates that he was shot not from the school book depository behind him but from the front right.

In the Image of God [VHS]
David Aikman, Dr. Sigrid Hartwig-Scherer

American Portrait, 1997

Paleoanthropologist Dr. Sigrid Hartwig-Scherer shows that the fossil evidence supports the Genesis model of repopulation after a recent global flood. Dr. Marvin Lubenow explains that some supposed ape-men are true humans, while others are fossils of extinct apes, misidentified as human ancestors. "A tree-dwelling, hairy creature with a long tail and pointed ears..." That's how Charles Darwin imagined our ancestors. We visit the Hall of Fame ...

Doctor Who: Image of Fendahl [VHS]23 reviews
William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton

20th Century Fox, 1996

"What are you exactly, some sort of wandering armageddon pedler?"
Elaborately balanced between horrific and comedic, "Image of the Fendahl" comes in near the midpoint of Tom Baker's tenure as the Doctor, a justifiably classic phase of the series when those responsible for its making seem confident but not complacent that their efforts will entertain a wide segment of the BBC audience. That is, while a bit murkier and edgier than prior years, this is still ...

Shattered Image (1998) [VHS]7 reviews
Anne Parillaud, William Baldwin

Universal Studios, 2000

I give the stars to Anne
I used to love Billy Baldwin. Then I read an article where he really downtalked one of his former stars, Sharon Stone. Now every time I see him in a romantic movie with someone, I think, well, is he gonna go and talk bad about this person too? The movie was ok, not great, but ok.

Robert Broyles, Norman Alden

Russ Doughten Films, Inc., 1999

Great flick!
My father, Arthur Greco, appeared in a bit part of this movie and has since passed away. I had to have a copy of it to some day show my children! Of course I'm bias...I love it!!

Image (1990) [VHS]3 reviews
Albert Finney, John Mahoney

Hbo Home Video, 2000

Loved it...Very Powerful!
I was blown away by this movie, and its really top cast. The script was GREAT and the some of the lines are hoot. Look for a nice little early perfomance by Brad Pitt as the TV Cameraman. Finney is masterful.

Image of Death1 review

Paragon Video Productions, 1984

Pretty decent
Tracked this down because Cathey Paine (who played Leslie Van Houten in the 1976 tv movie Helter Skelter) was in it. Wasn't really sure what to expect, but wasn't let down; it's a storyline that may seem a bit cliched now, although looking back it must have seemed fairly fresh back in the mid 1970s. Paine puts in a good performance and is gorgeous!
