Good Night Gorilla & More Bedtime Stories (Scholastic Video Collection) [VHS] 26 reviews
New Video Group, 2003
A favorite book now a favorite video I don't allow my 3 yr old son to watch many videos, movies & tv, but the title story is one of his favorite picture books. I bought the book when he was 6 months old & he LOVED it! Every night we read 'Goodnight Gorilla', looking at everything in the pictures, laughing & being surprised at the big eyes on the dark page. He has his own gorilla, flashlight, set of keys & little animals that we use ...

Dear America the Winter of Red Snow 3 reviews
Scholastic
Great portrayal of Martha Washington We purchased this VHS to accompany some books our 10 year old daughter is reading on George and Martha Washington this year for school. This video is excellent and on target for its target age group with its coverage of the Revolutionary War and the people it touched. It does go into the heartbreak of war, so be sure to be there to explain these things to a younger audience. The portrayal of ...

Dear America: Dreams in the Golden Country 1 review
Scholastic, 1999
Unrealistic portrayal While I enjoy the Dear America written series, I did not like this adaptation. I bought it to show to my 8th grade Social Studies classes but thought it would give them an unrealistic picture of how immigrants lived. The main character was supposed to be a poor Russian immigrant girl but she lived in accommodations that are perhaps better than some of my students'!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Lots More Learning Fun! (Scholastic Video Collection) [VHS] 43 reviews
New Video Group, 2002
Chicka Chicka All three of my kids just loved this DVD. Of course the main title was the reason for buying it, since the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom song had been a hit that began in Kindergarten. However, a big plus was that all the other cartoons/songs on the DVD quickly became favourites as well.

Pete's a Pizza... and More William Steig Stories (Scholastic Video Collection) [VHS] 4 reviews Ian Thompson, Chevy Chase
New Video Group, 2003
Pete's a Pizza - ALL stories on this DVD are great! My kids (ages 2,4,6) love this DVD. It is filled with great stories by William Steig. If you are not familiar with his stories - you may know him as the author who created Shrek. These stories are gems - very enjoyable children's stories that really entertain and contain some type of moral or lesson- in a very subtle way. Pete's a Pizza (narr. by Chevy Chase) tells about a boy who is feeling glum ...
